2. You mean like maybe the fix was in and we're all just
bozos on this bus? Kind of reminds us of the last election and how easy Kerry just rolled over.

3. Feingold voted for Ashcroft.
Of course not.

Some of the Senators have these stupid ideas that the president should have most of the folks he wants--I'd imagine this is doubly the case for people who are just switching spots.

It's stupid.
The Dems should be voting their true feelings here, because their vote doesn't count anyway now that they're a minority.

..but yeah, that's just wrong.

so the official stance of the opposition is capitulation?

5. Yeah
That's why we'll continue to be the minority. We can't rest until this stupid 'go-along-get-along' nonsense is dead and we become a true opposition party.

11. Some of those are "real Dems" but Bayh is a DINO, and Kerry
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 04:47 PM by JoshK
is a ... ummm ... Didn't he just run a presidential campaign against a full-fledged war criminal, in which he somehow forgot to mention that his opponent was a war criminal? Did he ever even mention the word "Enron" in the whole campaign, let alone the fact that Enron was Bush's best buddy & biggest financer for years? Somehow, if I was running for president, and my opponent had vulnerabilities like that, I think I might take a damn good swing at them.

Oh yeah, and torture and concentration camps. Anyone recall Kerry standing up with passionate moral outrage to denounce those who made torture official US policy? No... I didn't think so.

17. You bring up an interesting point!
Why didn't Kerry bash Bush constantly over Ken Lay and Enron?
One can only assume that the facts of the Enron scandal taint quite a few Democrats as well as Bush and that is the reason it wasn't used.

About Bayh being a DINO, I am not so sure. He is first and foremost a second generation journeyman politician and his whole life has brought him to the point where he might have a shot at the brass ring. He is much more of a Bill Clinton type, a purely political animal rather than an ideologue. He has also never lost an election as a Democrat in a state that they usually call for the Republican presidential candidate on Nov. 1st.

I'm a little pissed about that.

What ever happened to "Fighting" Patty Murray?

18. He really has nothing to lose and everything to gain by his vote.
This vote will not be an issue four years from now to anyone but the hardcore Democratic base. He will need them at that point in time and this vote will buy him some "cred".

16. I like AT LEAST 10 of those 85 YEA votes over Bayh
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 11:41 PM by Hippo_Tron
Probably more. Sounds like Bayh is trying to set himself up for a presidential run in '08, and frankly this vote does not impress me in the least bit.
