Paula Zahn had Joe Klein on who said Dean was lying when he said that he would reduce American Troops in Iraq by bringing in more international troops.
Klein said there were 20,000 troops available from Asia, but none from Europe. He missed Dean's entire point which was if you forged decent relationships with Europe, they would provide troops. But since Bush is such an a-hole, they won't deal with him.
Why is he so anti-Dean?

who writes for Time Magazine. You may also recall that he wrote the book Primary colors. Lately, the man seems to have had a hemmorage in that part of the brain where journalistic integrity resides. I wouldn't be surprised at anything he says anymore... unless it happened to run against his own monetary self interest.

but Dean nailed that interview. Point blank: we need a president who hasn't humiliated our allies to mend our relationships. I loved how he said that W's dad managed to get enormous amounts of international troops for the first Gulf War, so it's far from impossible to do. I wanted Dean to say "It's called diplomacy, you moron!!"

That's good enough for me. Alterman is gold when it comes to backing up his accusations.

I tried to read "The Natural" by Klein, a short biography of Clinton, and couldn't take his left-bashing any more than about 20 pages.
He is firmly in the DLC camp and obviously hates anybody to the left of the DLC.

He said Dean was "arrogant and uninformed". I was surprised, and wondered why myself.

Does Dean phone him on a daily basis to keep him reprised? I think not. I am tired of these asses twisting things to suit their attacks on the candidates.

18. Yes, I assumed Dean was talking out his ass when he said that |
|
Dean has made statements prior to the debate that he was committed to the rebuilding of Iraq -- that he believed the U.S. couldn't afford to lose the peace. Obviously, that means he's prepared to maintain, or even increase U.S. troop levels if he is unable to obtain commitments from other nations.
Of course, that kind of sentiment wouldn't earn him any brownie points among the debate audience. So naturally he embraced the "bring the boys back home" rhetoric of pacifist Dennis Kucinich.

He hasn't changed one whit.
He's always been trying to get more international troops into Iraq. He's never endorsed more U.S. troops into Iraq.
The only Democratic candidate who endorsed more U.S. troops is the Democratic PNACer himself, Sen. Lieberman.
