i don't mean to turn this thread from comic to depressing but after i laughed i considered how common people like this guy are.
it is so very pathetic that we have citizens in this country who still are delusion about the connection between iraq and 9/11/01. who believe calling someone a "democrat liberal" is a terrible insult (as if they want a one party system, so long as it is their party it doesn't concern them). people who worship bush because they think he's a down home country boy who tells it like it is (or at least says enough to both keep them in fear and then turn around and lie to them about how he will make them secure)

it's pitiful, dangerous as hell, and wrong. and there is nothing that can be done about it because you can't have an argument with someone who refuses to listen to facts or reason... someone whose 'thought process' (the presence of which is debatable) is based solely on faith...

it's scary and too widespread.
so i laughed and then i reflected and then i grit my teeth and tightened my fist and then i mourned.

Yeah, we laugh. But, crap, these people are serious. They are as serious as we are.

These are people who rarely read, are undereducated, taken advantage of by the very system they prop up, and still...I shake my head about this stuff all the time.

I don't live in Atlanta, but what Mike is saying about being surrounded by many types of people like this is spot on.

For what it's worth, I have a very wealthy, fairly well-educated relative who lives in the Hamptons who *spews the exact same ideas as this man on Malloy*, only in a slightly more sophisticated way. Not much more.

And who told me that I am a traitor to the country because I do not worship Bush, and that Bush is saving us from terrorism.

So, it's scary-they are everywhere.
