1. Race home if I am at work. |
|
Grab my kids. Appoligize to them for having failed them. And wait for it I guess.
I would want to be cheeck to cheek with both my girls. They are all that really matter to me anymore.

about why the world is letting us get away with this. For example in Iraq, I keep thinking that the other countries will send troops in to fight us and this mess would be over in a week or so. But I am very niave in the ways of war and world politics. Usually someone will explain to me why this or that, but no one has chosen to explain this to me.
My point being, I too wonder why no one is trying to stop this.

US got too many nukes. Bush was dead set on Iraq only way to stop him was start a war against US. Chimp as leader are rather rare. If they can think they are not crazy. Bush know that no one country will want to start a war with US.

ideas to think about and to work with, and you are very knowledgeable. I would rather hear you speculate even if you were wrong. Being right is good, but I like the process of going from A to B.

this country's influence in the world is truly VAST. Even with the Chimp and his apostles in charge, there would be many people who would try to make sense of what the world's oldest democracy was doing. So much goodwill America has lost over the world, since 2001. On September 12, 2001, we had the hearts of most of the world -- except for a few crazies.
They all despise us now. Nuking Tehran would just make that worse. No one would declare war, but fear would be the only reason why.
God, what a thought. Lord have mercy on America.

Why would a nuclear exchange between Iran and us be the end of the world ? It would be the end of Iran. Neither Russia or China would respond, why would they ?

At present a nuclear exchange with Iran would erase Iran and have no effect on the USA. Obviously the further out in the future such an exchange were to take place, the more danger to the USA, as the potential for them to develop ICBMs increases with time.
As to the rest of the world, nothing would happen. Neither Russia or China would risk annihilation for a, (former), client state.

15. Hitler didn't really believe Britain would go to war over Poland. |
|
He thought Chamberlain would back down again.
Something to remember, thinking about Iran.
Though Russia and China are not obligated to its defence, Iran is of strategic importance to both of them. They would be foolish not to do something.
It doesn't need to be military. China may be launching a pre-emptive economic war upon the American dollar.

In a full nuclear attack on Iran by the USA, there would be no Iran left for China or Russia to defend, hence no point in risking war.
The economic war you mention concerns me much more, the nuclear war scenario with Iran is unlikely in the extreme and is more of an intellectual exercise.

Any pro-US governement would fall immediately, so Pakistan's nukes would most likely end up in the hands of fundie Moslems. I don't think Pakistan has ability to deliver by ICBM or sub inside US, but they can build suitcase bombs and give them to those willing and able to deliver. Leaky southern border and goodbuy Houston.
North Korea might go berserk and wipe of California (and itself of course).
So few nukes here and there might go off in US as consequense, but all out nuclear devastation not likely.
Oh and Israel? Goodbuy Israel...

regarding the Pakistanis. I think NK has better survival instincts however. Still, who wants to risk it ? This is an academic exercise only, thank God.

The world wont stop with a Nuke on Iran. The world will gang up on US. The world will just strip US of all its assets oversea. Then we just put your under sanction. No trade. You can end up eating yourself.
Sure you got the nuke. But when everyone get serious and Bush go off the edge. US will just get nuke to Kingdom come.
US might have a lot of nuke. But seriously the whole world has more. It is enough to literally cover the entire USA.

But let's look at who has the capabiltity of launching a nuclear strike against the USA:
France, England: Yes, but they won't. They don't have the capability to take us out in a first strike, hence they are obliterated in our response. They won't risk it for Iran.
Russia: More serious concern, but again, why would they risk our counterstrike from submarine based warheads to defend the parking lot that used to be Iran ?
China: ditto Russia.
Fact is, none of the nuclear powers, or any combination of them would risk nuclear war with the USA over the smoking remains of Iran. After much moralizing rhetoric, they'd just want some assurance that they could get in on the oil contracts.
None of them really gives a flying hoot about Iran, anymore than we do.
EDITED: For spelling

I don't agree on calling you dumb, that is not good for the discussion, but I would guess the main point of criticism was that the economic etc. consequenses would come as product of global opinion (see other posts), not nuclear retaliation by other powers which seemed to be all you were conserned about, but equally devastating to US.

Assuming nuking Iran, I doubt China or Russia would self-destroy by destroying US.
Every nation in the world cutting all diplomatic and economic ties to US, you can bet on it (if governements unwilling, people would force their will on their governements). Total sanctions and cut of all trade, including no oil, all US assets abroad confiscated, US embassies and businesses burning, US military bases shut down, no NATO, no allies...
US bankrupting totally in a month, famine, disease, civil war... no more US.
