Has anyone seen the HBO movie "The Hamburg Cell"?

My hubby said its "based on true story of 9/11 and facts that are known to be true"
i haven't seen it but he said i would find it interesting (he isn't into politics)
so has anyone else seen it?

1. Yes - I saw it in Britain on Channel 4

I thought it was fascinating. If its reconstruction is accurate, then it may tell you more about how someone becomes a suicide bomber than anything else ever has. You'll also probably be horrified how they managed to slip through the fingers of the authorities.

You mean the 19 guys who had approved expedited visa's? Or the one's that "bunked" with USA FBI agents? Yes, very scary that they can "slip" through. BB

3. it was on the CBC last week

excellent

supposedly it is meticulously researched
very much focused on the personal journeys and transformations of the characters, especialy Ziad Samir Jarrah.

much of the same research on Jarrah was shown in the CBC 5th Estate piece on him http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/thepilot/index.html

no the "close calls' in catching the hijackers were remarkable. The videotape of Jarrah being pulled over for speeding the night before the hijacking (burning off nervous energy). absolutely freaking unbelievable and odd to see it.

the right wing has trashed the movie as they say it is too sympathetic to the hijackers they are not sterotypical insane evildoer enough I guess. But for those who prefer not to have simple answers, it is a good movie.
