EVENT: RWers are threatening to play race card on Condi-lie-za
and Heinrich Gonzales nominations against the brave Senators
who represented us in the confirmations. It's been expected since
the nominations were announced.

ACTION: Take 4 people aside today and explain the vote had
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with either their ethnic origin or
gender. Have each of them do the same.

18. I tried to explain this to people yesterday and they beat me up...

Being overly aggressive and attacking condiliesa is one thing. Attacking Andrew Young and other Black Elder Statesmen is another.

We fell into their trap. Even Black scholars and experts are starting to say the same thing I said. The Rethugs played the card and we fell for it.
I agree with the poster and thank them for their post.

I like the fact that Boxer, Kerry, Byrd, Dayton, and others spoke for me. They are the leaders in this fight. Let them take the hit. But when rank and file Liberals and Democrats including progressives and aggressive progressives like those here @ DU attack and call Andrew Young a sellout and a media whore I have to say wait a min. IS this the face you want to present to Black America. Watch out. Cuz if we get the whiff that this is where the Democratic party is headed under your direction then we can't play that.

Y'all may be able to do that to your elders but Black folk don't do that even when we disagree. We respectfully disagree.

"We judge the nominees not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Once said, the content of their character is brought to the fore.

If the race card is played again, it is easily turned around, and then the truth, that we judged the nominees not on the color of their skin but on the content of their character is reiterated. One can then recite the character issues. When the argument comes to the character of the nominees, and their records, the right loses.

Now, to be sure, people have used the RW race card ploy on this forum. It is seen in many threads. Please, avoid the trap. Stick to the truth. We are liberals. We judge these nominees not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. And in doing so we find the nominees to be unfit for the appointments.

Stick to the truth. Do not be sucked in to the personal emotional and political diversions.
