Iraq Elections Worse Case Scenario (is Saddam on the ballot?) |
|
I think the greatest risk aside from people getting killed is a scenario where the majority Shiites gain control and begin an alliance with the Shiites in Iran. What's going to stop that from happening I don't know. How you avoid civil war is also another major concern to me. Especially if we are still there and stuck in the middle. Maybe Iraq will split into three separate countries, but then again, I don't think Turkey will stand by and allow a "Kurdistan" in northern Iraq.
It is amazing how it seems so little thought went into this whole adventure. Amuricans were so consumed with the idea of killing some Arabs, any Arabs, after 9/11 that we simply got dragged along for the ride. I feel like I'm in the backseat of a car with a drunk, blind person driving 150 MPH's down the freeway, with no way to get off.
What if Saddam wins in a "write-in" campaign. Can we say, "Democracy established, the Iraqi people have spoken"? I really hope for nothing but success in this "hell-hole", but like we say in the Navy; "shit in one hand and hope in the other, and see which hand fills up first".
"I want to die quietly in my sleep like my grandfather did....Not screaming and crying like those riding in the car with him".

1. This 'election' is not to choose a president or prime minister |
|
As I understand it, it is to choose a group (of unnamed people) to write a constitution.

2. This isn't a presidential election... |
|
the news fails to mention that the election is only to choose what I think is a legislature who will form committees to appoint a new president. Nice huh?

5. Wow! I'm Shocked! The Liberal Media is not doing their job again? |
|
I'm speechless.
Hey! Great idea. Maybe we can get them to appoint Bush as the new president of Iraq. That way he could resign as US President and begin the "hard werk" (mispelled on purpose you english majors) of spreading his special brand of freedom all over the world.
Praise Jesus! Can I get an Amen!?

Wonder if their 'constitution' will mirror 'ours' should be interesting.
So basically this whole' election' thing is a scam. It is a shame though, that there are so many ignorant people out there that actually believe that this will work.
Cuba here I come...

The big Saddam had a 42% approval rating... (Similar to our own fearless leader) Even in prison.
If he were allowed to run... Surprising results?
