6. Um, I speak from the experience of my coworkers and friends

and I am well aware of how the GOP has infiltrated black churches with dirty money.

I'm not about to call Young and Rangel names. I don't know the full story about that.

But to reinforce my earlier point above about black churches, I have to decline.

I got into arguments with 3 coworkers who bought that "Bush is going to halt gay marriage" claptrap. They are all religious, steady churchgoers.

I don't need that crap in my life.

I'm aware that there are some Blacks who support Rice. Thank God I'm not one of them. I enjoy being in the other column.

Do yourself a favor and tune into Lorraine Jacques-White on WAOK radio. It comes on weekdays in the late afternoon, and "The Best of" plays on the weekend. Those blacks who call in by and large make plenty of sense. That's the pulse I have my finger on. And those callers range in age, economic status, all across the spectrum. And 95% of the callers think Rice is a scumbag.

I'm not black, but I've had literally thousands of black clients. Most of them in trouble with the law, since that's what I do. They are, like whites, good and bad, selfish and selfless, proud and humble, ignorant and intelligent, educated and uneducated...

I never saw that skin color made anyone more likely to be anything, except in trouble. And the in trouble part was a result of racist policing and inequitable laws, not race.

With Dr. Rice, my problem is that I think she deliberately lied to put American soldiers into the middle of a losing war where they are being killed and maimed and accomplishing nothing except our international embarrassment and loss of face in the world. We have more enemies in that part of the world now than we ever did, largely with the complicity of Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Powell and all of the other apologists who tried to convince the world that Saddam was about to nuke us.

I think what they did was criminal, and given the damage inflicted, damn near a capital offense. Forgive me if I don't give a shit if she's black, brown, purple or green. Whatever color she is, she killed americans.

Challenging her is not a question of politics and repurcussions among any given community, it is a matter of principle and a moral obligation.
