So much in-fighting going on! So many people saying they feel like they are no longer valued in the Democratic Party because they are ____ (fill in the blank).
How do we get caught up in these flame wars? The strength of the Democratic Party is its diversity. Only one group benefits when we fight among ourselves, and that is the GOP which has been using a strategy of DIVIDE AND CONQUER to keep us from pooling our collective experiences and talents in order to realize our true strength.
It does not have to be that way. The next time you are tempted to toss the Democratic Party out with the bathwater, because you dont see how X can get along with Y, remember these words by liberation theologist Leonardo Boff from his book "St. Francis"
"To live humanly means to feel the warmth of someone who says to us, in spite of our physical and moral misery 'It is good that you exist, Brother. You are welcome. The sun is also yours, the air is everybody's, and love can unite our hearts.'"

3. I'll quote myself from an earlier thread, |

I am with YOU.
I know that post doesn't add tons of new insight or information--I just thought I'd let you know there are people with you. I'd suspect the majority of DU actually--but me for sure!

Even when our elected Representatives support and vote for NeoConservative Policies we should stand in unified support.
Never criticize a Democrat, even if he sells you out to the Big Corporate donors!
Feel the Warmth Brothers, because the Republicans and their lap dogs are turning off your heat!

7. Criticize actions not people, and you cant go wrong. |
|
Fellow Dems are not perfect. They need to be "educated" just like everyone else. But that doesnt make them evil. Follow the rule of criticizing fellow Democratics specific actions rather than their character (or lack of) and this will open the door to constructive criticism and dialogue.

8. Mother Jones Quotes "Solidarity of Labor" |

"My friends, it is solidarity of labor we want. We do not want to find fault with each other, but to solidify our forces and say to each other: 'We must be together; our masters are joined together and we must do the same thing.'"

9. I believe in a central goal |
|
which is helping place the Democratic Party in the executive office, and more in the legislative branch. I'll hold a sign for my candidate in Manchester NH during the primaries, and if another Democratic candidate wins the nomination, I'll hold a sign for them. (example only, there's a lot more involved.)
