Liberal Talk Radio here to stay - Jerry Springer boosts profile
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Liberal talk radio shows are beginning to find a place in American broadcasting after years of dominance by Rush Limbaugh and his conservative cohorts.

Despite the fresh infusion of high-profile names into market - including Jerry Springer, whose program started last week on WCKY-AM - no liberal talk show host can yet claim the clout of Limbaugh, whose show is heard on nearly 600 stations and reaches an audience of about 20 million each week.
...
Two close presidential races indicate the size of the potential audience, said Jon Sinton, president of the liberal talk radio network Air America. "That's why we think it's a business," he said Tuesday.

Good to see this picked up in the MSM. They can't just poo-poo and deny it any longer. A huge audience has been underserved for decades but the tide has turned.

1. MUCH MORE DETAIL HERE...
Making Headway to a Progressive Infrastructure

gives all the details and more about Springer and other upcoming lefty radio voices including Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller, and of course the crew at Air America.

Also goes many steps further to discuss the "rise of the entire progressive infrastructure".

Great Read!!!!

7. Too bad he decided against running in Ohio
Might have helped the cause.

Most people have only seen his show. When you see him talk separately from that context you can see that the guy really gets it. He is sharp and knows how to talk to the average person.

4. Has anybody started an "unofficial" archive of his shows yet?
I wouldn't mind hearing some.

5. Limbaugh is top because of Clear Channel.
Afaik Clear Channel still carries Randie's show independently of AirAmerica.

They told her they would NEVER syndicate her nationwide, and when she started beating Limbaugh they moved her to another time slot in Palm Beach so she would not be directly competing with him. They have coddled and catered to their little gutless nancy boy, and now I guess they are starting to see dollar signs.

10. I remember that all too well...
...she used to NUKE Lardbutt when she was on Noon to 3PM. But little did CC know that by moving her to 3 to 7PM, not only would she get an extra hour, she'd get MORE listeners since it's AFTERNOON DRIVE!!!

11. I hate his TV Show,
but love Jerry Springer.
Don't base your opinion on his TV Show.
His talents will be better used in Political Talk Radio.
He is a legitimate voice for Progressive Reforms.

He will also provide an educational inroad to the creepers and freepers who love his TV Show.
His audience ARE the ones who need to hear the LIBERAL message:
"Voting for a Republican will cost YOU money and blood!"

12. You make a point about him enlightening freepers but......
His show is so repulsive that he is damaged goods. He is a political liability if he is on your side, IMHO.

13. Give him a chance for rehabilitation.
Most of the people claiming "Damaged Goods" will be the intelligencia on the Left.
