16. I wonder
how the Mid easterners managed their choppers in the dust storms? I suspect Saddam used his more prudently- or could afford to.

The Carter rescue debacle flying helicopters across hundreds of miles of desert went badly.

I suspect if this is the case with more pressure under constant use we will see a host of such failures- if this isn't cover for the insurgent successes- which we will never be told.

6. Could it be....?
Wouldn't it be funny (in a very sad way) if they were shot down by some left over anti-aircraft weapon from our "friendly" Saddam days, but one that was sold to him secretly, and so now we have to keep it a secret?

7. Those bastards better be keeping our soldiers copters ...
maintained and safe for flying! With what we know about their families sending them supplies and vests, etc., can we be sure they are giving our guys decent, regularly maintained helicopters? How tragic that we even have to wonder...I hope everything is OK! O8)

9. Not happening.
Little things like maintenance are now being handled by the contractors, not the military. They don't worry about the troops, they worry about the bottom line.
