Dick Cheney, Dressing Down
Parka, Ski Cap at Odds With Solemnity of Auschwitz Ceremony
At yesterday's gathering of world leaders in southern Poland to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the United States was represented by Vice President Cheney. The ceremony at the Nazi death camp was outdoors, so those in attendance, such as French President Jacques Chirac and Russian President Vladimir Putin, were wearing dark, formal overcoats and dress shoes or boots. Because it was cold and snowing, they were also wearing gentlemen's hats. In short, they were dressed for the inclement weather as well as the sobriety and dignity of the event.

The vice president, however, was dressed in the kind of attire one typically wears to operate a snow blower.

14. What a Dick
I watched that this am, and didn't see THAT. In the other thread pic, I see he at least took his stupid looking hat off when he walked up to the memorial.

It was snowing like 'ell for awhile. Putin, the President of Poland, and other dignitaries stood at a podium with nothing on their heads, and spoke for 10-15 minutes each. The poor Bishop the Pope sent stood up there and talked with wind blowing up his skirt for longer than that!

It was a nice ceremony, I'm glad the camera didn't pan that far down the line.

13. My guess is that
his thoughts were more about staying comfortable while sightseeing AFTER the ceremony. Obviously, the dolt wasn't concerned with respectable atire. A ski cap....sheeesh.

18. what commercial logo?
according to the article, it just had the words "staff 2001" on it...maybe it was from a camp david retreat or something.
(although i strongly agree that he was a disgrace at the event)

It was probably a "give away" at some convention in 2001.
