Bush: US will pull out if new Iraqi leaders request it
wow....that's a HUGE if!!! anyone willing to bet how likely it is anyone in the new iraqi government will ask for the US to leave and let the new iraqi military do the protecting? not to mention, do you thin chimpy would keep the money flowing to them if the troops left?

<snip>

Asked by the daily in its 40-minute interview, carried out on Thursday, if the US troops should be withdrawn if the new Iraqi administration requested it, Bush said: "Yes, absolutely. And this is a sovereign government -- they're on their feet."

1. But that shouldn't be the end of it.
Even if the US does pull out the 'coalition of the willing' should fix what it broke, quite literally this time.

Because the recent US lead war in Iraq was not sanctioned by the United Nations and because there was no request from the Iraqi government for such an invasion and because there was no act of aggression by Iraq to justify military action the war must be deemed, by all reasonable international standards to be illegal.

We, the undersigned, urge the UN to seek compensatory damages, to be paid by nations participating in the invasion of Iraq, for the people of Iraq to include, but not be limited to;

1) Full compensation for all persons injured as a direct or indirect result of the invasion.

2) All persons suffering property damage as a direct or indirect, result of the invasion.

3) All persons suffering a loss of wages or other hardship as a, direct or indirect, result of the invasion.

4) The families or next of kin of all fatalities that were a, direct or indirect, result of the invasion.

5) The government of Iraq, including local and regional governments for damage done to public property and antiquities

and

6) Punitive damages to help the people of Iraq recover in the post war period.

If international law is to have any validity then it must seek to punish violators and compensate victims when that law is violated.

4. If Sistani wins, he will HAVE to ask US to leave
that was his platform and he won't be able to back away.

6. Occupation interruptus?
IF they ask he won't. It presumes the puppets won't cut their strings. If they cut the strings the "rules" are broken.

What patent nonsense. A showy Iraqization and partial withdrawal was always in the books to accompany several farces. Only it can't work, a small fact of life Bush glosses over.
