What does Dolly Parton think about homosexuality?
LOVE ROCKS!

Thats the name of the cd that Parton, Emmy Lou Harris, the Dixie Chicks, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore and Yoko Ono are producing for the HRC. All proceeds to be donated to HRC....

That's one I want, just to hear Yoko sing "Every man has a man"

http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?ID=20019

In the words of Mandy Moore "Humankind has its problems but love isn't one of them"

1. Look for fundie attacks on Dolly now.
Good for Dolly for standing up. Dollywood isn't quite in the most liberal areas of the nation.

15. I always admired Dolly for being her own person and not
feeling like she had to measure up to anyone else's standards but her own. She will weather any criticism just fine and probably will put those people in their place as only Dolly can.

If you ask me, Earle has come the closest of any country musician to carrying on Johnny Cash's legacy.

34. Amen. Steve's proudest achievement was Johnny's having recorded
"The Devil's Right Hand" very late in his career.

Steve carries the legacy of JC, Mance Lipscomb and Woody Guthrie, too.

41. Earle is as Hillbilly as They Come
Yes, he can rock.
Yes, he writes plays and poetry.
Yes, he can expand out with a tunes like "Conspiracy Theory," and "Condi Condi."

Steve's his own guy. And he's basically country. He's just not limited to what Music Row pushes.

33. Dolly has a Johnny Cash/Willie Nelson style following/backing.
It will get UGLY if anyone tries to "screw" with her. And it WON'T be Dolly on the "recieving end" of the FReeper KKKrusade! FReepers will regret it if they think of attacking her.

best, best friends is Fran Leibowitz - probably a strong indication that she soooo does not have a problem with it. Also, Dolly lives in NY most of the time.

21. I stumbled upon something one day
when I was home sick and channel surfing.

Dolly Parton and Melissa Etheridge on the same stage singing each others songs. It was called CMT Crossroads.

It was AMAZING. There must be a recording somewhere.

Melissa did "Jolene" and Dolly did "I Wanna Be Loved". It was an absolute show stopper!

There were segments where they discussed each others works and Dolly was quite clear in her support for Melissa.

They better not fuck with Dolly!

23. I loves me some Dolly!!
I've never thought she was underrated -- everybody who hears her knows what an incredible talent she is. An amazing and prolific songwriter, a voice that is instantly identifiable and can convey more emotion in one note than anybody else can in a lifetime, and an attitude that says, "If you don't like me, kiss my ass!"

Yet another reason to like her. (I was reading today about the foundation she created to get books to kids early in poor rural areas in TN, where the nearest public library might be a 40-mile trip over a windy two-lane.)

31. Dolly Parton is my cousin
My mother's grandmother and Dolly's mom were sisters. I can never keep that "twice removed" stuff straight, but in Tennessee lingo I believe we are first cousins "twice removed."

36. it's vertical vs horizontal separation
in the family tree. Vertical = x removed, horizontal = nth cousins.

45. try this explanation
To figure out nth cousins and mth-removed, go backwards and find the first common ancestor to both.

The difference in the number of steps to the common ancestor from each person is the "number removed" (implying different generations).

The smaller number minus 1 is the degree of cousins.

e.g., your paternal grandfather is another cousin's great grandfather, making him the last direct ancestor to both of you.

Number of generational steps from you to grandfather= 2
Number of generational steps from cousin to your grandfather (her great grandfather)= 3

n= 2-1 = 1 -> 1st cousins
m= 3-2 = 1 -> once removed

40. Oh, our friends from "Focus" are weighing in....
"But Focus on the Family's Melissa Fryrear, a former lesbian, said the CD's use of the word "love" is deceptive."

Oh, don't give me that "former" anythig bullshit. If I worked hard enough, I could suppress my STR8-ness enough to claim I was a "Former Heterosexual" but it'd be a lie.

"The problem, though, is their definition of 'love' is carefully camouflaged to mean more than Cupid ever meant it to mean. Their definition is meant to mean the acceptance and the celebration of homosexuality."

Uh, Melissa? Wasn't Cupid a PAGAN "Godling"? you work for a CHRISTIAN ministry, and you're citing a PAGAN mythological figure? Shouldn't you have cited Levitcus?

Sick Puppies....They should focus on their OWN families...
