4. Saturn actually, but this is a pretty nice planet, maybe I'll stay...
Sorry, I've been away from it for a while, just catching the headlines.

I feel kinda stupid for not knowing. Grrrrrr... I guess I gotta get back in the game!

ONLY 12 Dems. didn't!! One other was a no vote.

3. Rice was a slam dunk vote for Bush. Hopefully Obama's saving his shots
A lot of good people, from Schumer to Feingold, voted for Rice. A few brave souls like Bayh of Indiana stepped out and took a stand. But I imagine some senators out there are are saving their fire for Gonzales, who may do the impossible and make Ashcroft look less than perfectly evil.

Rice, tho disturbing and unqualified, at least won't make much of a difference once in office. Gonzales, if confirmed, really will make the country a less safe place. A vote against Rice is a vote against past incompentence. A vote against Gonzales is a vote against future and certain attacks on the Bill of Rights. If you only felt like you could vote against one of them, Condi is clearly the lesser of the two evils.

6. Good points, but still...
Rice is going to be the most incompetent Secretary of State in ages. At least Powell was respected around the world in spite of George Jr., Rice is just his little weasel.

It's gonna hurt our standing in the world a tremendous amount, I'm sure.

Disappointing, but I guess if they can successfully block Gonzales, It'll be worth it... perhaps.

I guess it probaly is hard to come into the job in the first month and make such a huge vote against the administration right off the bat.

9. I don't get it
What's to save? Do they get a monthly allotment of "veto points" or something?

Condi is not qualified, she's a liar, she has big industry in her pocket. Just Say No.

12. I agree with you here...
Why not just say "f*ck it" and take a stand against every wrong decision the President makes for 4 years. Screw it. We tried to capitulate and we tried to negotiate, and it didn't work. Let's take a hard line and see how that does.

But then again, I'm not a professional.

7. Not much choice, really.
The only way to stop Rice would be to filibuster, and that's a 'big gun'... any replacement for Rice would be another bootlicker or neocon 'true believer'.

Gonzolas, though... he's a criminal and a perjurer... in addition to being a bootlicker.

AND

we're going to need the 'big guns' for Supreme Court nominees.

10. I'm not turning on him...
I'm just disappointed in him. You know. I was hoping he'd be more than just our best chance for Pres (and I disagree there, BTW, no more senators). I wanted him to be the real deal who would fight the good fight and damn the torpedoes.

I guess I'm not as good at politicing as others. A single term in order to stand up against everything the George Jr. Administration stands for seems like a good enough sacrifice to me.

Anyway, I'm sure he'll be a great senator, and I still have faith in him, I'm just disappointed is all.

11. I think Obama had to vote for Condi
especially if he wants a shot at the White House, you know to show bi-partisan support.
