Do you have liberal outrage fatigue?

I have a friend that once told me after bitching about this administration that I have "liberal outrage fatigue"....

Watching the state of this country is somewhat depressing. It's like watching lemmings jump off a cliff. The people are brainwashed and the one party that has even a remote chance of opposing the policies of this administration are almost nowhere to be seen.

It's like what Kerry said to Rice "We know you'll be confirned anyways".

Immediately following the election, for a while I was paying only passing attention to politics.

I'm paying more now, but it's still less than it used to. I'm atleast able to watch the daily show again.

The most interesting reaction has been my dad's. He was so upset with the election thart he refuses to be even be in the same room with the news (or even mention of it) on.

It's just so tiring and seems so frustrating.

4. yes, and tonight I once again

broke down into tears of frustration. The extreme mourning for the whole world is weighing heavy on my shoulders as I shuttered at the thought of more mothers having to bury their children. It seems like this will never end. I just hope people keep standing up. We cannot tire now.

I may be getting my second wind... or not. It comes and goes in cycles. I think I'm still trying to get over spending the first week after the (s)election in the deepest pit of sorrow for my country I've ever experienced.

It also does -- and doesn't -- help that I just spent a month out of the country. It was wonderful being away from the daily BU(ll)SH(it), and oddly liberating to view the U.S. through the eyes of another country... but now that I'm back, everything looks gray and miserable.

Sometimes I think the only reason I still keep an eye on politics at all is so I'll know how much time I have before I need to bail.

I know, Oz is in the same boat as the U.S. -- but the difference is, they know how badly their gov't is screwing them. LOL

(My lover of 5 yrs is there. Thanks to the inhumane anti-gay immigration policies of the U.S., I go there so we can be together, whenever I can scrape up enough money.)

These policies are so ridiculous and frustrating. It's completely wrong that certain people are second class citizens because of their sexual orientation.

Unfortunately this administration is turning the clock even more backward. In the area of gay rights, the US seems the most backward of all western industrialized nations...

I had something of a breakdown in response to the Iraq invasion, and had extremely intense reactions for a long time about all of Bush's various outrages.

Now I'm finding it hard to feel anything. I've come to a point where I have a sort of detached indifference to everything that's going on. I suppose it's healthier from the standpoint of my personal life. I can begin functioning again somewhat. But it also means that a big part of me has simply shut down.

Made a meeting this last Thursday in my area. I suspect that many others are burnt out as well.

15. Well, I refuse to be in the same room

with the news as well. I followed up with my pledge to cut off my cable if Bush got a second term. My mom's been recording TDS for me. There's nothing else that I want to watch. I'm boycotting all corporate newspapers and magazines as well. I pretty much get my news from LBN here, and from listening to AAR while driving. Other than that, it's much easier to just shut it out of my awareness.

It's really nice not to have to worry about turning on the TV and running into Bush speaking.:puke:

17. I can't really stomach any main stream news.

I get most info from DU, but little is different from earlier because the blatant bias of most networks turned me off during the election itself.

I watch the "occupied media" inscessantly. I think it's important to keep tabs on them. Forewarned is forearmed. Info is power and all that. I'd hate to miss the announcement when it comes on CNN that all free thinking people have been outlawed. Doesn't give you a chance to pack before they come for you.

Maybe but I know my friend and he's also very liberal. He might have just been poking fun at me though because I'm usually the one to express my anger and frustration.

you could use it on constructive actions to gain what we want.

actual TV programming, like reruns of Will and Grace and Sienfeld instead. I'm watching, American Idol and The Apprentice. Me! Of all people. Immediately following the election my gray hairs increased tenfold. I had to cut back on following politics for my health and state of mind.

24. I don't know that I would

want to put it into some cute little "classification" but here is how I feel:

I fluctuate from feeling overwhelmed with bitterness and a suppressed simmering anger to feeling overwhelmed with sadness and fatigue. What is going on in this country is something I could not even imagine possible.

I think about energy shortages, I think about the environment, I think about civil liberties , I think about the secrecy and lying in our government, I think about the war in Iraq, I think about war in general, I think about terrorism, I think about crooked media.

Thinking about all of this has begun to consume me. It is taking away my ability to enjoy life to a large extent. I feel helpless to fix it and I feel helpless in getting away from it.

I am trying to find ways to put all of that to use so that I can feel like I am accomplishing something worthwhile. I have tossed around the idea of trying to get involved in politics as a candidate of some sort, but doubt my degree of liberalness and my attitude would make m very electable. I think about activism as well. I have mailed letters, talked to people, asked questions, but feel like I am going in circles. I feel like a patriot for a country that does not want "my kind" of patriotism. It is so damn frustrating!
