Cheney's "Staff 2001" cap at Auschwitz - what the hell was he thinking?
What the Hell was he thinking?????
Dick Cheney as America's Representative at Auschwitz - 2005
by Dan Brown

"This should be a potent enough signal to the "base" that we don't take this sort of thing seriously, without riling up the neutered Democrats too much so they make a big deal out of it," thinks Dick Cheney, war profiteer, as he dresses up for the 60th Anniversary of the Liberation of "Arbeitslager" Auschwitz.

Cheney, consummate politician, doesn't do anything accidentally. Therefore the question for me is why did he purposefully make those disrespectful clothing choices.

Recall 2003, when the only question Bush was heard to ask during his Auschwitz tour actually dealt with Holocaust revisionism: "Do people challenge the accuracy of what you present?" he asked his guide, the New York Times reported. This might seem a rather bizarre question at first glance – but then, Bush has a personal stake in the cultivation of historical amnesia. His own family fortune was built in part by a long and profitable collusion with the Nazis – an ugly story raked up again by Newsweek Poland during the presidential visit.

Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, and Prescott's father-in-law, George Herbert Walker, helped finance the rise of the Nazi Party through their intimate entanglements with Nazi industrial, shipping and banking interests. This long (and well-documented) collaboration continued even after America was at war with Nazi Germany. It seems the blood money was just too good to pass up – even if it had to be dug out of the corpses of young American soldiers and innocent civilians throughout Europe and North Africa. The Walker-Bush cabal's Nazi partners also helped finance – then profited from – the Auschwitz camp.

Finally, in 1942, the U.S. government seized the Walker-Bush Nazi assets under the Trading With the Enemy Act (the cash value was returned to Prescott in the 1950s, helping to fund his Senatorial race, and going into a trust fund that helped G.H.W. Bush in his political bids, including his runs for President, as well).

Today, the Walker-Bush tradition of war profiteering carries on under the Bush-Cheney heading. The Financial Times has documented that Bush-connected "reconstruction" firms Halliburton and Bechtel, now nominally in control of Iraq's oil fields, want to raise massive bank loans using future oil profits as collateral. In other words, the bloody war pirates will pocket billions in free money that will have to be paid back later by the Iraqi people, if and when their oil fields are returned, not unlike the cost extracted from the Poles in Silesian slave labor going into the pockets of Prescott Bush and George Herbert Walker, and in building Auschwitz.

Cheney's Halliburton, and Bechtel already made millions with Saddam during the dictator's murderous heyday: Bechtel helped build Saddam's mustard-gas plants, while Halliburton, under Cheney, pocketed $73 million working with Saddam's UN-sanctioned regime after the first Gulf War. Halliburton still pays Cheney a tidy annual sum, but no one is apparently willing to confront this conflict of interest between business and government (Benito Mussolini had a name for this overt enmeshment of governmental power and business greed - fascism).

That's the way of the war profiteers, these men of "honor and integrity" who build their family fortunes, their corporate treasuries and their political dynasties on bone-ash.

In that light then, the the "Staff 2001" Wollmütze appears at once moistly nostalgic and ironically aspirational on Cheney's (and in his role as representative, the Bush Administration's and America's) part.

Thanks for laying it out for us, Dick.

3. Wait a minute--the cap actually says "Staff"??
I thought people were joking when they said that! So he wore a "Staff" cap while he was at AUSCHWITZ??!

Good God, it doesn't get any more blatant than that!

...it was a knit ski cap - the type worn by criminals when they stick up a liquor store - with "Staff 2001" on it. It was obviously some kind of promotional item, he couldn't even be bothered to wear something he'd *paid* for!

Disgraceful.

8. So he was declaring that he was a member of the
Auschwitz staff--and we all know what the staff of Auschwitz did: they killed people and cremated the bodies.

You know, now that I think of it, it seems strangely appropriate that he wore it! I mean, he IS Dick Cheney!

9. well...
Perhaps the '2001' was embroidered on the cap to distinguish his deeds from Auschwitz. He's a more modern-day death camp staffer of, say, Fallujah. But no doubt it was worn in the spirit of solidarity.

How I hate these people.

...nah...he wasn't... Cheney is a lot of things (evil, destructive, callous, megalomaniacal, greedy), but stupid isn't one of them.

Cheney doesn't care what the world or the country thinks of his behavior. What his appearance represents is the corruption of absolute power - since he is the one pulling the strings.

I seem to recall thousands of people died in a single day that year.

I used to dismiss rumors of the link to the administration, but now I open to the possibility.

12. Yes! Yes! A thousand times, YES!
And everyone needs to know it!! This is NOT a tin-foil hat conspiracy theory! Anyone who doesn't believe it just needs to read history. What we call "black ops", and operations involving agents provocateur, and creation of disasters to get sympathy for a cause--all those things have been commonly used throughout history!

7. "Hmm..when can we get one of these?"
There are no words to describe just how evil and sick that bastard is, or how disrepctful that display was. He changed into proper attire later in the day, so it was deliberate for sure. Only the most black-hearted would think to wear a cap that says "staff" to Auschwitz. And I've got a feeling he purposefully wore a brown suit as well.

16. He and his daughter went back the next day
to lay flowers at the wall. He was dressed appropriately then. This was pure photo op; they had to have photos of him dressed appropriately at Auschwitz, to 'replace' the major disgrace of the first set of photos. I'm sure the 2nd day photo will be the official one placed in the Lynn Cheney approved text book.

Cheney's fashion choice did what he expected it to do---upstage the event, thus minimizing the memorial.
It was a very calculated move. It was no accident.

They can't allow their base to think too hard about the similarities between regimes.

19. The story of Prescott Bush
Was floating around on the CNN message board during the 2000 campaign. "Tarley.net" (spelling?) carried extensive documentation concerning Prescott's and the Union Banking corps federal trial.

I cannot understand why he was not charged with treason, and I REALLY cannot understand why the media did not pick up on the story. After all, the discussion occurred on the CNN website.

Brush-pile Sr is not much better. He should have been charged with treason when he and ronnie conspired with the Iranians to capture and detain the American hostages for 444 days.

Brush-pile Sr also financed a covert war in South America which was financed by selling Narcotics. His other son was at the center of the S&L scandal during which $40 billion was embezzled from the taxpayer. The other son Jeb administered the vote fraud scandal of 2000 in Fla which appointed his other son-of-a-brush to the White-House.

Next, Brush-pile jr uses taxpayer money and our military to advance his families business interests in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Why the hell has any of these stories NOT been national headlines? How can the American people be so stupid to allow a family of scoundrels back in a position to pillage our nations wealth?

24. (LINK).... to prescott bush, and the chimp's INHERITANCE

These highly researched/documented articles were written by the President of the Florida Holocaust Museum....he documents how bush* family has HIDDEN FOR YEARS the money they gained from the blood of Jewish Slave Labor....Iraq is becoming a reproduction of Auschwitz...for Auschwitz: Iron, Steel, Coal and the ultimate cheap labor (SLAVES) in a WAR....for Iraq: Oil, Chemicals Refineries, Chemical Manufacturing and cheap labor because bush* forced 80% unemployment in a WAR (complete with many torture camps, and company stores)...

http://www.john-loftus.com/Thyssen.asp

-snips-

But while President Bush publicly embraced the community of holocaust survivors in Washington last spring, he and his family have been keeping a secret from them for over 50 years about Prescott Bush, the president's grandfather. According to classified documents from Dutch intelligence and US government archives, President George W. Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush made considerable profits off Auschwitz slave labor. In fact, President Bush himself is an heir to these profits from the holocaust which were placed in a blind trust in 1980 by his father, former president George Herbert Walker Bush.

Throughout the Bush family's decades of public life, the American press has gone out of its way to overlook one historical fact - that through Union Banking Corporation (UBC), Prescott Bush, and his father-in-law, George Herbert Walker, along with German industrialist Fritz Thyssen, financed Adolf Hitler before and during World War II. It was first reported in 1994 by John Loftus and Mark Aarons in The Secret War Against the Jews: How Western Espionage Betrayed the Jewish People.

-----------------------------------

That year in New York, George Walker decided to give his new son in law, Prescott Bush, a big break. Walker made Bush a vice president of Harriman & Co. Prescott's new office employed many of his classmates from his Yale class of 1917, including Roland Harriman and Knight Woolley. The three had been close friends at Yale and were all members of Skull and Bones, the mysterious on-campus secret society. Despite the upbeat fraternity atmosphere at Harriman & Co., it was also a place of hard work, and no one worked harder than Prescott Bush.

In fact, Walker hired Bush to help him supervise the new Thyssen/Flick United Steel Works. One section of the USW empire was the Consolidated Silesian Steel Corporation and the Upper Silesian Coal and Steel Company located in the Silesian section of Poland. Thyssen and Flick paid Bush and Walker generously, but it was worth every dime. Their new business arrangement pleased them all financially, and the collective talents of all four men and their rapid success astonished the business world.

---------------------
note: Consolidated Silesian Steel Corporation and the Upper Silesian Coal and Steel Company is AUSCHWITZ....free labor by using Jewish SLAVES......

30. Thank you for posting this.
I will do my part to circulate this informaion.

Again, I have NO clue why this story was not a major campaign issue during the 2000 or 2004 campaigns. I cannot understand why it is not today. Nothing addresses the issue of character more directly than these facts.

My beliefs are further chaffed by the chimpanzee tribes insistance that they alone represent the moral fiber of our nation.

Wouldn't it be frightening if they actually did?
