U.S. Army soldiers set up a banner giving instructions how to react in case of an attack in the heavily guarded Green Zone in Baghdad, Iraq (news - web sites), Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005. Iraqi troops intensified their deployment on Baghdad streets from the early hours of Saturday, just one day away from the national elections on Jan. 30, 2005. (AP Photo/Khalid Mohammed)

22. negroponte flew out BEFORE they closed the airport.....he's done this

kind of work before...and if nothing else, negroponte KNOWS that he needs to get out of there BEFORE they close the airport.....

IMO, even Allawi is here in DC, and will broadcast a little 'casting the ballot' gig from the inside of the Iraqi embassy in DC....of course, you won't KNOW that's where it's being broadcast from...it'll be in a room set up like an Iraqi polling place, and Allawi will be surrounded by HAPPY IRAQI voters....rove will distribute the tape to all the Main Stream Media (MSM) outlets, and you'll see it again and again and again and again...all day tomorrow...

10. they're showing on MSNBC TV right now
thx

CNN in commercials

''south part of US embassy hit''

SS 22 missile 15 kilos of explosive, if that's what it was; could have been a mortar

they don't know yet

2 killed, six wouded in rocket or mortar attack

then the bimbette says, "we'll be back. stay with us," with the 'us' inflected up, in the chirpiest, perkiest manner you could imagine, as if they'd just done a segment on water skiing squirrels

6. If they hit the US Embassy then we have no idea what we are
dealing with. Could there be anything more secure or protected in Iraq than the US Embassy? Obviously not.

Holy shit! It's going to be one Sunday, Bloody Sunday.

That is a picture of the evacuation of the American Embassy in Saigon at the end of the Viet Nam war.

Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember it first hand.

blasted several polling places.

I'm beginning to think the voting turnout will be next to nil.

BAGHDAD - A rocket has struck the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, killing four people and wounding four others, U.S. officials said Saturday.

All of the victims were Americans, according to media reports.

The embassy is located inside the heavily fortified Green Zone in the centre of the Iraqi capital.

24. it's always TWO killed...ONE civilian and ONE military....that makes
it easy to ship back all TWENTY bodies, because the grieving families each think that was THEIR kid...the military ONE....and it's very rare for the grieving families to figure out that there were others too....

26. CNN's Anderson Cooper "This is an everyday event....
this is life in Baghdad"

Oh so now it is nothing new which should be forgotten tomorrow when they try their damndest to tell us how great things are going.

He is back on talking to a news reader who reminds us "The problem is that the rockets are fired from civilian areas........"

27. The "unsafe zone" just went from 54% of Iraq to 60%. OOPS.
I wonder how the repukes will spin this?

At least now they will not have to blame their failure on Clinton.

29. Even with all of this
Bush's approval rating continues to go up. If you look at his individual ratings (economy, environment, ect.) are going down, bush continues to become more and more popular. Well maybe election day will wake people up but probably not...

in Iraq. Yeah, Shrub requested this a few days ago. Of course, The Dems will all vote for it because they don't want to be seen as obstructionists.
