Will Colin Powell write a book?
According to Cindy Adams:

KIDDIES, you may not remember, but: Last year mother told you Colin Powell's son Michael worked in the FCC. And that this government agency job could/would/should be why daddy will not write any behind-the-scenes-at-the-White-House memoir. In other words, sonny was the Bush hostage. Well, in Washington last week, at the Inaugural, Colin Powell said to me: "I read what you wrote about my son. You're wrong." I asked, "About what?" He replied in diplomatic speak: "About what you said." I asked what he meant by that. He said, "You'll see." I said: "Just tell me what was wrong and I'll fix it. I don't like being wrong." Our then-secretary of state smiled, put finger to his lips and said: "Ssssshhh. I can't tell you now . . . but . . . wait . . . you'll see." I waited. I saw. Sonny just resigned.

So, in general, could this presage a book deal in the general's future?

4. Funny, I think the EXACT opposite!
If he waits till weecowboy leaves, it's YESTERDAY's news. The time to strike is NOW...and I am not talking about any ideological stance, I am talking about cash money, the big advance, the huge sales, the book tour.

I'll bet he has been going home at night and dictating. I'll bet he's got the chapters roughed out. He's already done MY AMERICAN JOURNEY, so this book will be all politics, all State Department, all the time, with maybe some more recent family shit thrown in. And I'll bet he will be sufficiently critical, like the Woodward interviews, but even MORE SO, because no one will buy it if it is an apologia. The vial of powder and the chemical truck testimony at the UN will probably serve as the fulcrum of the work. Here he is, going along like a good soldier, and he takes it up the wazoo with BS intelligence and is left hanging out to dry.

All you have to do is look at that guy's face to see the negative effect of his servitude to BushCo. He has aged PROFOUNDLY, he has gotten quite fat, so fat that even fabulous tailoring can't hide it, and he looks like shit. I think he's ready to UNLOAD.

Of course, he only has himself to blame. Sure, Nixon gave him the boost he needed to make it to General, they rewarded him for his lousy work as the PIO in the My Lai mess, and once he got on that GOP treadmill, it was way too easy to go along and get along--and that is exactly what he did. But once he retired, he really should have looked into his essential heart and done the right thing. Instead, he chose expedience, power and cash over principle, moral influence and perhaps slightly less (but not that much less) cash, and the result of his poor decision shows on his face and no doubt is etched on his shriveled soul.

He has a reputation that he needs to protect, because most Americans don't realize what a huge part of the problem he was, simply by his inaction--he still has an undeserved decent standing on both sides of the political spectrum. Distancing himself from the wicked regime is the first step in protecting his place in history.

2. who fricking cares? wonder what he'll have to say about My Lai
of all those slime, he's the worst, because of his pretensions to credibility

how anyone can believe a thing he says after that ludicrous UN performance is beyond me, but that liberal corporate media made sure that HIS lies were ignored at the time; indeed, all will remember how impressed all the media shills were with that dog and pony show, swallowing his swill wiith nary a demurral

3. Colin Powell told me what his book is going to be titled.
"How me and Bush misled the American People Into a War and SUCCEEDED!: A Guide to the Aspiring Warmonger."

I'm serious! :P

6. His worthless shitheel of a son isn't a "Bush hostage"...
Colin Powell threw away the very small measure of integrity he had in order to assure his son's fortunes.
