"Active Denial" antennaarrays mounted on Humvees are also being deployed to panic ad disperse hostile crowds by flash-burning exposed flesh with microwaves. But unintended side efects from the hidden rooftop transmitters are reportedly trigering violent attacks by exposed insurgents- while leading to AWOL rates of up to 15% among USforces disoriented by these same weapons, as well as the electromagnetic emanations from high-power radars, radio and "jammers."

There is a big difference between sonar and electromagnetic emissions.

Radio waves can only travail from a few iches to a few feet in water, depending on the frequency.
The sonar transponders do not work very well in open air.
