So I am watching this "Pro-life" rally on EWTN |
|
and several things spring to mind.
Well, actually, my brother is watching it. He has a high tolerance for pain. I drift in and out.
Anyway, the first thing I see is a group of "pro-lifers" talking about how persectued and victimized they are. They talk about how its dangerous to be pro-life, and how they are afraid to speak their opinion for fear of being attacked and victimized.
But that just confused the hell out of me. After all, isn't it the "pro-lifers" that murder doctors and bomb Planned Parenthood clinics?
And then, they had a group of women standing on the stage with signs that said "I regret my abortion" and some even "abortions".
Now, hold on a second. I thought abortion was murder. Why are they honoring this group of murderers? That stage alone has probably killed 30 or 40 innocent, unborn victims.
Something tells me that if these people had their way, anyone who had a miscarriage would be investigated and charged with manslaughter.

1. That last part is real |
|
some idiot in Virgina proposed a bill to do just that. Women would have to save the miscarriage remains, weigh them and return them to a hospital. Otherwise you get charged with a crime.

The whole persecution thing was funny. That's how out of touch with reality the "faith-based" community is. They control all three branches of the government and impose their will onto others, but they're persecuted.

5. And the funny thing is, they were praising Bush for being pro-life |
|
Which made me laugh my ass off.
If Bush were as anti-abortion as they were, and if he were even half the leader that Republicans like to fantasize that he is, then Abortion would be illegal right now as I type this.
So, I guess, in a way, they are persecuted after all.
They are being used and led by the Republicans who claim to share their values, but instead are focused on raiding the treasury.

that half of Catholics is like that. Most of the "Catholic" media they listen to is just disguised born-again fundie media. Read EWTN, Relvant Radio, Ave Maria Radio's web pages and you will see that most hosts are late in life converted Catholics. This means that if you listen to them their past pre-Catholic religious born-againism comes through more.
They seem to get many cradle Catholics with this approach in a trojan horse type of way.

They still have free speech and I'll bet they have a police presense at their rally.
They want to silence the views of 2/3 of the country that believe in keeping choice available. Somehow they manage to turn this into victimhood for them.
I'm sorry for women who go through abortions. It must be a painful experience. But just because some regret their decision that is hardly grounds to make it unavailable for every other woman in the country. Part of choce must the the right to make the wrong choice for yourself. It happens. Get help. Get therapy but don't change the law because you personally regret your choice.
