1. Is that like waiting for the plume of smoke from the Vatican ?
 Waiting for the flowers to wilt or something ?

2. Wel.... no long lines to wait in....
So 11:53 ET is almost an hour after the polls opened? Do they say where this particular polling place is?

This is going to be like Geraldo and Al Capone's vault if they're not careful...

3. Serious: To be fair, are the polls even open yet?
Still a funny, yet depressing, image to show.

7. They've been open for more than an hour
By comparison, when I went to the polls one hour after they had opened up in November 2nd, the wait was over 45 minutes in Illinois. That was with about a 50% turnout.

They have the poll worker demonstrating how to vote every now and again for the cameras.

17. How come nobody ever answers my questions?
Did I come in here one night in drunken black-out mode and cuss everybody out or something?

Is Fox still showing the flowers? Have they commented on the absence of voters?

Whoa... Hey, how come they didn't allow absentee voting? You know, let people vote by mail. That would have been a way around the threats of violence at the polls.

Although it just occured to me I don't even know if Iraq has a functioning postal system...

You know, there probably would have been a better time to do this, to prepare for it better and maybe provide some options - like absentee voting? Duh? - but they couldn't admit they were wrong, that they weren't going to make the original timetable. They absolutely refuse to adjust to new information or changing circumstances. If this election is a disaster, it is only because they are so stubborn and arrogant.

8. Mosul
was the lastest Iraq live shot on Faux. It looked pretty quiet with only the reporter and the poll manager.

CNN and MSNBC also have late night coverage.

The ratings will have to be pretty poor. Who is going to stay up most of the night (Saturday Night/Sunday Morning) to watch this?

9. Geez...
I just changed the channel to MSNBC and they have this guy standing there with a pointer and a large table size map of Iraq pointing out places where they will be voting.

It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

now has the solider who captured Saddam on, MSNBC has a translator monitoring Al Jazeera broadcasts, and Faux News will have that Mississippi contract truck driver who was kidnapped and escaped a few months ago.

CNN is just simulcasting their CNN International coverage, which looks to be much better.

12. CoNN Idiots. I've read the streets are almost totally empty.
They have good reasons not to turn out.
Pretty strong chance of death and it's a sham anyway.

So much for Chimp's experiment in democracy by violence.

I expect to see video of the same individual casting their vote on CoNN, Faux and all the networks for the next two weeks.

Edited on Sun Jan-30-05 12:26 AM by CatholicEdHead
Faux via Reuters is saying a west Baghdad polling place has been attacked with some type of bomb.

No other confirmation from other channels

Edit: Now MSNBC has picked up but not CNN International.

16. Wow, all the money we spend on elections and we never have
fresh cut flowers next to our booths. They have it good over there don't they? I mean, flowers and no lines... these are the things memories are made of. </sarcasm off>

18. I've been watching CNN coverage
And the anchors are having trouble making a story when all they have is shots of the wind howling through the polling place.
