PBS American Experience on the Towers----the only mention of Bush
Edited on Tue Sep-09-03 12:03 AM by Gloria
was no real mention at all....except for a reference to "the President was no where to be found" (sic) as chaos ensued....

Mario Cuomo had the last word...very eloquent...
Koch was on as were people who had built, designed, etc the Towers.
Guiliani was shown briefly in clips, but not interviewed.

The program actually mentioned "globalization" as a cause of the attack...

There was no Bush with the bullhorn...I picked the show fairly early and I don't think there was any mention of Bush at all....thank goodness.

1. Dam!!! I missed it =(
Maybe I can catch it on rerun. I have avoided all of the 9/11 shows. I get sick of seeing Bush potrayed as a hero when in truth he was flying around like a scared chicken. I can just hear his first question.
Shrub "Didn't the Billy boy leave me some instructions about this."
Iron Ass "Yes, but we chose to go with 'operation ignore' on that one. So, shut up and do what we tell you and we can have that war in Iraq I was talking about"
Shrub "Whooooopeeeeeee"

Sad =(

2. "Nowhere to be found" -- I caught that too!
I was happy to take it as an oh-so-subtle little dig -- nicely done, imho.

I was also VERY glad that it was Mario Cuomo speaking at the end, he was absolutely wonderful. (And VERY thankful that there was no Guiliani beyond the clips -- I can appreciate that he did well in the immediate crisis, but there's little else I would ever respect about him.)

It was a very well-done program, imho. One I would be interested in watching again.

3. I appreciated the lack of Bush worship, too,
but on the whole, I found it hard to watch on an emotional level.

4. Yet more reason for the Repubs
to cancel all remaining funding for PBS. *sigh*
