Listening to Kerry on Meet The Press |
|
I am impressed how he is right on almost all the issues, but I am reminded about how he just doesn't have the skills to put the issues into a phrase that brings our how right he is on them and how wrong the republicans are on them. He just mentioned that abortions went up under Bush and down under Clinton and attributed that to Bush's lack of family planning. This is true but it alienates some people who have issues with family planning. What he should have said is:
" President Clintons focus on providing tax relief and health care benefits for the middle and lower middle class working americans allowed many people who were ambivilant about having a child feel they could afford it, and his support for the prevention of teen pregnancy helped reduce the number of abortions as well.
We as democrats have a record of reducing abortion rates by supporting those who have been economically disadvantaged by shifting economic changes and lack of affordable health care. We reduce the abortion rate by attacking the root cause, which is unplanned pregnancies and the shrinking middle class."

2. That's why we need Dean |
|
Howard Dean gets it. Today's Amerikan population is too lazy to learn about the facts or details. Kerry can go into all the explanations and details he wants, but it's too long and people get bored too quickly. Dean can state the same information without going into long descriptions. His sound bits are effective and get the point across.
One thing that struck a nerve with me during the election is that being smart was a negative attribute ("liberal intellectual elite"). Reminded me of being in grade school when I was laughed at for being smart and thus not "cool." For goodness sakes people, we are "supposed" to be adults. Striving to better one's self should be the norm, not something to cover-up.
Still, because it is they way it is (and hopefully we'll change that), Dean can get through to Joe Six-pack or at least leave a word or two ringing in his empty skull; that is if the press will carry that word or two.

3. I just keep remembering his testimony, "when will we ask the last soldier |
|
to die". I have a really tough time with Kerry.

5. Isn't it how do you ask a soldier to be the last man to die? |
|
What's wrong with that? How do you ask a soldier to die for something that was a sham from the start?

4. I think he never understood |
|
the (our) passion behind his run. It is like he lacks the drive of yesteryear.
