Just ONE day later: $87 billion not enough, sez White House
Of course, you knew this was coming. When did the idiots ever float a plan or budget that wasn't just blue sky spinning? I'm just stunned that they're fessing up only one day after Dubya asked us to indulge his $87b extension to make Iraq free, prosperous, and corporate-safe Real Soon Now:

The White House acknowledged Monday that it substantially underestimated the cost of rebuilding Iraq, and that even the additional $87 billion it is seeking from a wary Congress will fall far short of what is needed for postwar reconstruction.

Administration officials said President Bush's emergency spending request -- which would push the U.S. deficit above the half-trillion-dollar mark for the first time -- still leaves a reconstruction funding gap of as much as $55 billion dollars.

...

"Their constantly updated demands for money without any specifics suggests either that there are no specifics to the administration's plan or that they are so unpalatable that they don't want them publicized," said Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

2. I don't know why...
everybody's complaining about a lousy 87 billion.

It's not like that's a lot of money-- Bill Gates can come up with half of that himself, if he'd move into a smaller house.

You can't buy squat with 87 billion any more, much less a rebuild an entire country we blew up. Shit, California needs more than that just to make the payroll this year, and the potholes still won't be fixed.

Could be a good number for a hostile bid for Halliburton, though.

5. the math....
$79 billion(so far) + $87 billion + $55 billion = $221 billion

And more to come by or after Election Day. That's $7,000 per Iraqi.
