AP news NOT chanting the bushCabal mantra! No bush cheque???
Edited on Sun Jan-30-05 12:10 PM by LynnTheDem
Across Iraq insurgents were making good on promises of violence with deadly suicide bombings and mortar strikes on polling stations.

Still, after a slow start, men and women — many holding babies — formed long lines at some polling stations and officials said turnout appeared higher than expected, although it was too soon to tell for sure.

In some parts of the country, however, the streets and polling places were virtually deserted.

On Saturday, just hours before polling stations were to open, a rocket hit the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, killing at least two Americans and wounding several others.

Bush had sought to declare victory before the polls even opened by arguing that just the fact that Iraqis are voting means success.

WHAT the...???!! Where's the "Iraqis are on the road to democracy!" and the "72%!" and so on??? No "breathless excitement"???

They must not have received their payment from bushCabal yet.

1. That's buried in the bottom third of the story.
The lead is "better than expected." The second paragraph is Condi's "terrible thugs" line.

I think your post is misleading.

3. No it isn't. AP is reporting what CONDI says, They very clearly report
that it is CONDI saying that shit.

AP itself says exactly what I posted.

4. Yes it is. Your quote starts at paragraph 18.
I said buried.

That's what buried means...so far down that most people will not read it.

I stand by my original post.

5. As do I stand by my OP. And I don't hthink you're understanding it.

AP is reporting WHAT CONDI SAYS. They SAY it's CONDI saying it. That's what reporters are supposed to do; report what so & so says...

BUT THEN the AP ITSELF does a very balanced reporting of the facts; AP is NOT claiming the same rah rah mantra they report CONDI chanting; in fact they douse quite a bit of cold water over what they report her as saying.

AP themselves did not chant the bushCabal mantra in this article.

I don't care WHO they report first as saying OOOH WONDERFULLLLL...AP themselves are NOT saying OOOH WONDERFULLLLL. And THAT is what my OP is about.

Let me put it this way then fuck it;

I report on you saying your cat is pink with purple stripes. That's AP reporting what Condi said.

And THEN I continue my report by saying your cat does not appear to be pink with purple stripes, and in fact has no stipes.

Normally with AP they'd only have reported you saying you have a purple-striped pink cat.

Enough. Stupid argument.

6. The AP never opines like that.
You are misunderstanding the difference between broadcast journalism and print/online journalism. Broadcasters will say whatever the feel, particularly the partisan hacks that are on the major 24-hour news stations.

The AP story basically gives Condi a platform to say "Iraqi Voting Exceeds Expectations."

Originally, that was the headline.

They reposted it five minutes ago to headline: "Rice: Iraqi Voting Exceeds Expectations."

When you posted this story, the headline was precisely the "Better than Expected" mantra. The lead of the story quoted Condoleeza as saying it was "Better than Expected."

Hard to say they aren't parroting the mantra when the headline IS the mantra. That's misleading.

The new headline is an improvement.

8. I have seen
your posts on here many times and I have come to the conclusion that if I were Mr. LynnTheDem, I would take an entire bottle of Xanax, inject bleach into my veins, slit both of my wrists and then hurl myself into traffic.

In more than 12 years of posting on on-line message boards, you're the most rude and annoying poster I've ever seen. Why this community doesn't ban you is beyond me.

Enjoy your Sunday!

2. Just trying to put up a little smoke in front of all the joyous propaganda
Perhaps BushCo propaganda ministers are testing the audience and are finding too much skeptisim. Just AP putting out a little bit of bad news to soften the edges of all the glee to make the propaganda easier to swallow.

7. I think they are seeing if they can get away with a few more lies
I hope that enough of us know the real them and the liers they are and always will be to get their plans off and running with our mislead support, like the war in Iraq. Once a lier always a lier.
