Is the Iraq "Election" the greatest Propaganda exercise in U.S. History? |
|
The most amazing thing to me about this cruel farce that we're foisting on Iraq and the rest of the world, is the MSM's complete, uncritical acceptance of this dog and pony show.
Notwithstanding that this "election" is being staged by an occupying power, under their rules, and under the jackboots of martial law, the American media, without the least bit of irony, parrots the administration in pretending that this is a legitimate exercise of democracy.
Unbelievable.
But then again, I guess it is believable. Who knows how many of them are on the Bushco payroll?
As for me though, I'm not drinking the kool-aid.

|

Mission Accomplished. All is well. Green grass. Smooth sailing. Now everything will be fine (just like after the transfer of power, the capture of Saddam, the "liberation" of Fallujah, etc.).
Nothing to see here, people. Just keep moving...
Seriously, I completely agree with you. What a fucking mess. Thank god the accountability moment has passed...

American Media treated the last 2 American elections as a legitimate exercise of democracy?
It has to be the SECOND greatest propaganda exercise in history; the FIRST was the justification for the Iraq war in the first place.
And I'm sure that a LOT of them are on the Bushco payroll and that's what we need to keep front and center. Who is on the payroll and who are the real "journalists," if any?

7. It's grotesque, all right, but the "greatest" propaganda exercise |
|
was probably the fact that inside the US, the non-existence of WMD was (and is) NOT perceived as being truly scandalous. The stolen election of 2000, and the idea that the US torture abuses were limited to "a few bad apples" -- these things were also phenomenal propaganda achievements. Compared to those things, portraying this farce of Iraqi elections as "democracy" seems relatively easy.

9. Yes. However, the pattern of deception isn't going to change,... |
|
,...either reality or facts or the outcome which adds up to yet another tragedy at the hands of another tyranny, our very own neoCONs.

13. What about our own elections? |
|
2000 and 2004, especially. We're just now seeing it applied to America's newest terrority.
The media is shameless. I accidently turned on my TV 30 minutes ago and saw Brian William's smug ass talking about the "first free elections in over blah blah blah" (the media talking point all weekend). Enjoy that new yacht, Brian.

14. Revolutionary war propaganda was pretty damn good.. |
|
But they didn't have the mass media puppets we have today.
I would say yes, but it's pretty transparent so I don't know how effective it will be.
