Hope this isn't a repost...looks like another fundie group gets pissed on by *

Bush to Parents: Turn Off Indecency

By Bill MConnell & John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 1/28/2005 10:58:00 AM

Calling himself a free speech advocate, President George W. Bush says that parents, not government, are the "first line of responsibility when it comes to protecting children from indecent TV programming.

"They put an off button on the TV for a reason. Turn it off," he told C-Span's Brian Lamb in an exclusive interview scheduled for airing Sunday night.

But Bush did say there is a role for regulators. The government, can, "at times, not censor, but call to account programming that gets over the line."

OOPS...that's DEFINITELY not the message of firm regulation and opression that the PTC stands for (they don't believe in the "turn the TV off" excuse). Looks like he's going to have yet another thorn in his ass if he doesn't pick the "correct" FCC bigwig.

8. Yup.
Thought the same thing.

I already do it.

I can't even hear his voice anymore without having some kind of violent reaction.

2. Hmmmmm
I have the bizarre feeling of agreeing with President Bush.

I'm sure it will pass.

But yeah, this is right--it's annoying that people who don't want to watch tv they don't like can't just turn it off.

3. An EXTREMELY rare moment of lucidity for our Great Misleader.
Finally, something Bush says that I agree with--don't like it, turn off the TV. Still, though, he had to plug his bit for censorship.

4. You think Bush is gonna put any hurt on Murdoch and FOX? No way.
Bush NEEDS Murdoch to keep up and promote the lies Bush makes to the fundies ALL THE TIME.

9. I'm thinking he'll say "I said what I said!! NEXT QUESTION!"
...but what he really said was "FUCK YOU, SUCKERS!!!!" You voted for me, but I vote for my lords and masters in the media!

He's going out of his way to tell the fundies to pound sand. He doesn't give a shit about their "moral issues"--he just used them to get reelected. He wants to rape Social Security, so his pals in the financial industry can skim fees off of private accounts. There's BILLIONS to made, and he wants to set the conditions so he can take his cut! That's where he intends to spend his politcal capital, not on the issues that the fundies consider important. After all, where are they gonna go? They're trapped, like a rat in a cage--they can either sit in the corner of the room with the powerful, or be cast out, adrift, with no clout at all.

Wonder how long it will take before they realize how profoundly they've been screwed?

12. He'll say "I never said that"
Wonks will be trotted out tomorrow (maybe Friday, late afternoon) to say "this is what he really meant". Every stance he takes, every statement he makes needs 'splainin' by his whores.

11. I remember a story
That Laura Bush told - essentially she didn't like her twin skanks watching some popular show when they were younger - 90210 or something similar I'm sure, and the story went that she told them - essentially as she walked through the living room while they were watching it - that "we don't watch shows like that." But she never actually turned the TV off or made them go do something else.

Too much work I guess.

13. Yep
and every single time his nasty face is on TV, we exercise the right to not subject our daughter to such filth and we turn him off.

But yeah, the fundies are gonna have a field day with this one. Remember RIGHT before the election when he said he thought gays should have civil unions? Notice how quickly that got swept under the rug?

And then fundies lately have been pissed that he isn't doing anything about abortion and has no plans to reintroduce FMA?

Eat each other up, bushbots. I'll pop some popcorn and watch.

14. Wow, that's a pretty liberal statement!
Can we expect Bush* to be involved with the ACLU after 2008?

15. Sure, I'll agree with that
So will we see a press release tomorrow saying that he 'misstated' his point and that censorship is good?
