Doesn't the "Iraq election a success" backfire when our troops stay?
I'm shocked Bush gets away with the most amazing lies and incompetence so I'm not holding my breath but it seems to me Americans might soon say: "There was election. It was a great success. Why are our troops still dying in Iraq?"

I wonder if the Bush admin might be playing this up too much.

2. The grand success of "dear leader" spreading democracy,...
,...combined with that evil-axis member (Iran) is the introduction to marching the good citizens into the neoCON world war.

See how that works?

3. Negative!
Gotta make sure we fight the "terra-ists" over 'there' or else they're gonna be over 'here'!

4. one would think so...
Expect the next spin to be that we have to stay to protect this 'fragile democracy' that so many Iraqis braved the terrorist threats to create.

I'm sure we'll hear a variation of the above for the next several years. And the dumbed-down American public will believe it.

5. The plan all along was for the OIL and why all the 'concessions'

to private companies if you didn't plan on staying awhile ? Check the map at

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1548348

and then check PNACs latest request to Congress for more troops for the occupation at
http://www.newamericancentury.org/defense-20050128.htm

and then review 'Where are the legions ? SPQR' at
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/global-deployments.htm

""The Army intends to increase the number of Active Component brigades from 33 to 43 by fiscal year 2007; at that time, the Army will decide whether to continue the process to achieve 48 brigades. During the same time period, Army National Guard Brigades will reorganize into 34 brigade-size units using the same modular design as the Active Component.""

So, ten new brigades by end of Sept. 2007. Does anyone know how many men make up a 'brigade' ? Seems pretty vague to me.

I don't know how the DoD is planning on all these new bases AND Iraq deployments and can pull it off without further stress and strain on the grunts. No offense, but already articles are saying the system is under strain. If so, is a draft necessary ? It will be if a second front somewhere opens up...And they know it.

6. This is Bush's day in the sun. It's all downhill from here for the chimp
The situation in Iraq is too complex and unstable for any election day miracle to sustain. Regardless of whether Iraq continues in a positive fashion or if things deteriorate and they resort to civil war, one thing's for certain.....even Bush's own supporters are starting to wonder when the bonehead is going to start worrying more about America and less about some oil-laden country half a world away.
