Bide our time, this is MISSION ACCOMPLISHED all over again |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 09:40 AM by Walt Starr
Wait and see, come two months from now, nobody will think Bush is great because the election in Iraq will be demonstrated to be as meaningless as we all know it is.

2. Two months, Walt? Maybe not. |
|
But 6 months, a year? Likely. One thing we can say for the maladministration is that they can keep their secrets.
For a while. Thanks to a compliant and spineless MSM. Only for a while though.

3. Two months will be more than long enough |
|
The violence will escalate in that time.

6. I couldn't agree with you more. |
|
Families with soldiers in Iraq will not be able to understand why their soldiers can't come home. The general public that doesn't appreciate nuiances will wonder why we are still there.
It will harm the admin in the end.

9. Just note the people that are saying how wonderful the Iraqis are |
|
Then remind them of what they said when they talk about those rotten Iraqis a few months from now.

I notice that Tweety invited Howard Fineman to comment, their "Mission Accomplished" episode was a classic.

11. Exactly. Just what I've been thinking all along |
|
Everyone was gushing all over Shrub in his flight suit and then it became a joke. I would hate to see the elections become a joke but I find it hard to believe things will change there any time soon - election or no.

12. If these were really elections, they would not become a joke |
|
but they weren't elections any more than the mission was accomplished, so they will be the butt of endless jokes in a couple of months.

They have nothing setup after these elections. First, they had the toppling of Saddam, then the handover of power, then the elections. They could always say, "just wait until...".
The violence will continue, and the demand for American troops to come home will grow. One thing we know about most American's is that they really don't give a shit about the lives of others. There is no reason for us to be there.

14. Actually, they do have another "just wait until..." excuse up their sleeve |
|
"Just wait until the Iraqis have a new constitution."

pulled from that spider hole? Great Leader* said it would change everything and the violence would slow down or stop.

16. Very good point. I have a suggestion. |
|
Iraq needs a special election, a referendum on the question: Should the 12 or so US bases being built be allowed to stay in Iraq?
Wonder what the turnout rate would be for that referendum?
