the C-130 crash - 70 special forces troops killed?
and it looks like a SAM might have been used. In the fog or war, aided and abetted by the MSM, it's difficult to konw what really happened. btw, this article talks about up to 70 special forces troops being killed, including 15 Brits. Who were the others if this report is accurate?

<snip>

The latest crash occurred at around 5:25 p.m. on Sunday about 20 miles northwest of Baghdad, said a spokesman for the British Ministry of Defense. The plane was flying from Baghdad to the town of Balad. News reports say the wreckage was scattered over a large area. That would indicate a explosion of the aircraft at altitude.

A Royal Air Force spokeswoman would not confirm how many people were on board the C-130 Hercules, which is mainly used to carry up to 128 troops or freight. Soon after, Tony Blair confirmed the deaths in a televised speech, but gave no details. A British military source told Reuters up to 15 British troops were killed --Britain's biggest single loss of life of the Iraq campaign.

President Bush said both U.S. and British military personnel had lost their lives in the crash. There had been no previous mention of US deaths Reuters noted. The Daily Telegraph mentions an ominous "maximum" of 70 special forces soldiers from both countries aboard the plane.

13. Surely not, for not even a CSMFCSSOBB would cover up anything of
this magnitude.

2. If true this will be real hard to cover up for very long.
Special Forces are a tight group and take care of their own.

15. Who are the Special Forces? US, Israeli, UK, Iraqi?
Holy Cow!!! this just can't be true. Does that plane even carry that many? WTF is going on with the media? If this is a cover up and it is found out, screw the elections in Iraq this is major time for getting rid of this administration.

16. True
Who? How many? Did it happen? If U.S. Special Forces such as Green Beret or Rangers, they are a close knit group we would hear about it soon.

There are some clandestine groups that in U.S. Military that exist in secret such as Delta, Seals. They do not advertise who they are or what they do. Some may operate on a contract basis such as Rummies own private intelligence agency in the Dept. of Defense (as discussed last week on NPR). In those cases no one may ever know.

21. A C-130 will carry 110 troops in the back
But that's troops in "administrative" posture--just uniforms, no loadbearing equipment, no rucksacks, no baggage. If you're dealing with combat-loaded troops, the only way you're getting 110 of them in the back of that plane is with a crowbar and axle grease. 70 combat-loaded troops in a C-130 is definitely pushing it.

4. The article doesn't talk about
up to 70 special forces troops being killed. It links to another article which says that the C-130 could carry up to 70 special forces troops.

6. If the Iraqi resistance continues to use Stingers and SAMs
That will be it. Read Afghanistan x Vietnam = Hell on Earth. Chimp will start throwing out the nuke option if the situation escalates and more American GIs are coming home in body bags.

shoulder launched AA missiles. They've shot down two choppers and two C130's in the last 2 weeks.

8. Up to. Up to 14,000,000 special forces could have been killed on
that plane. Yes, I'm exaggerating, but only ot point out what a sham statement "UP TO" is. It's meaningless.

There's likely 70 seats on a given C130, thus up to 70 people could have been filling them, and conspiracy sites will continue to ask "What happened to the other 60" - even despite having no proof or indication that there were more than 10 + a lot of cargo in the first place.

:eyes:

Spare me the hysteria.

11. Like they don't have reason to be?
With this administration ANYTHING is possible. Except, perhaps the truth. There is very good reason for us to be "conspiracy theorists", if that's what you call people who are looking for the truth. I always welcome a voice of reason. I also like the truth.

18. "ANYTHING is possible"
so the wildest theory someone can come up with MUST be true? If it works for the MIHOPers it can work here I suppose. Just becuase a newspaper specualtes that its possible that up to 70 people could have been on the plane does not mean that 70 people WERE on the plane.

19. Anything IS possible
I'm aware it doesn't mean 70 people were on the plane. I'm also aware that the last place to look for the truth would be from the current administration. I like to keep my options open, as the truth in almost ANY matter, is the last thing I'm going to get from them. I don't care if I'm called a conspiracy theorist - the facts speak for themselves. This administration CANNOT be trusted.

12. Your clever use of "Up to" does not
excuse your painting with an overly broad brush.

An apoloigy from you would be appropriate.
