11. We don't know for sure. But when we marched through the Sheraton entrance
he had to have heard our loud chanting! They are so secretive they arrive in disguised cars by back entrances......but there really wasn't a back entrance for him to get into without seeing all of us.

We were covered on our local news.....but because of the late football games most people didn't see the protests until after 11:00 p.m. The news reports were from "over a hundred protestors.......to just "protestors," but the person who does the count at these protests said we were about 500. We stretched down the road for maybe a half a mile down from the Hotel.

12. Great pics!
What gets me is that these crowds are never shown on television. I know they don't want to show them because it might give others ideas and show them not everything is rosy in Bush's Merika.

Prior to 2000, I never attended a protest and I will admit I was scared to go to the first few ones. All I had to go by were those scary pictures they showed on my TV of people being violent and getting arrested. Because of the sense of outrage I felt, I swallowed my fear and I was amazed by the wonderful, peaceful, diverse and friendly crowds that I encountered. Now I love going to protests and look forward to encountering new people — and I am no longer afraid.

I guess that's why they can't show these pictures. People will begin to realize that it's average, every day people just like them who are getting outraged and taking it to the streets. That might actually lead to other people joining them and if a lot of people are out there, they might actually have to listen to us.

To all those who have been in the streets, thank you for taking a stand. For all those that haven't. What are you waiting for?!?! They are destroying our country right in front of us.

13. Thanks, Proles. Yes, the people are wonderful & our police have been so
good here. They let us go through the Sheraton front entrance (private property) before they asked us to leave. and they could have barracaded the entrance or stopped us right at the beginning.

Even in our Peace Demonstrations here....they have been very fair. But, no one at these protests is a violent type...and I think they understand that. The media still under-reports.......but we have to hope that ordinary citizens see us anyway and since we were correct about NOT invading Iraq......hopefully more folks will start to join us......

14. I found the police in Chicago
have been quite mellow, despite their reputations. There were numerous problems the night the war started and protesters shut down Lake Shore Drive, but if you know Chicago, you realize how huge that was. There was bound to be problems. I wasn't able to make it into the city that night.

What I've tried to do after protests is find a couple of officers and thank them for being out there and respecting our right to dissent. The response has always been a mixture of surprise and appreciation.

16. The police are UNION members..
People near the front of whatever protest group, need to REMIND them with signs about how the * gang are ANTI union.. The police are "just doing their jobs", but it never hurts to remind them that the protestors are actually on THEIR side in fighting against * & the boyzzz..

If the police think they are immune, all they need to do is look at what happened to the air traffic controllers, under Reagan.. Unions are NOT safe with these guys in charge..

17. Wonderful!!! did you know Cheney will be here Fri.?
North Carolina
**FAT CAT ALERT**

"Hey, Hey, ho, ho, political bribes have got to go"
"Elections that are for $ale are not FREE"

Did you know that the Bush-Cheney campaign has already raised over $35 million for their re-election bid?
BIG CORPORATE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTORS ARE BUYING AMERICA... WHILE THE REST OF US PAY.

If you're sick and tired of the big-money, corporate-driven political agenda that our country's current regime...um...er...I mean... administration has imposed upon the country, then come out and make your voice heard by protesting

Vice-President Dick Cheney's appearance at a big-money fundraiser this Friday, September 12, 4:30 - 6:00pm, in Raleigh!

Let's send a message that North Carolinians want voters, not donors, to control the election process. The people of North Carolina believe in good government of, by, and for the people... and we want to let Vice-President Cheney, US Senate candidate Richard Burr, and other elected leaders know that we want a seat at the table, even without a $1,000 check in hand.

Here are more details of Friday's event:

Vice-President Dick Cheney will be in Raleigh this Friday, September 12, 2003 to attend a fundraiser for US Senate candidate Richard Burr of Winston-Salem. The event will take place from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. at the Kerr Scott Building at the NC State Fairgrounds. Protestors will gather along Blue Ridge Rd., beside the gate next to the Kerr Scott Building. Due to traffic woes, you may want to plan on being at the fairgrounds by 4:00pm.

Supporters of campaign finance reform, gather around the Democracy North Carolina banner that reads 'Big Money Out - Voters In'. Make and bring your own signs as well.

For more information or to help organize Friday's protest, contact Adam Sotak at 1-888-OUR-VOTE x.11 or adamsotak@democracy-nc.org

27. thanks.. I don't why I haven't mentioned this
to you before, but the organization Adam Sotak is involved in: Democracy North Carolina, is a wonderful kick-ass NC progressive group. You probably know of them already. They focus mostly on bringing "clean elections" to NC.
I highly recommend getting on their mailing list. That's where I got the Cheny alert.
