WOW! . . . Newsweek does it AGAIN!! . . .
this week's lead story is a brief introductory paragraph followed by a complete listing of all 433 Americans (military and civilian) killed in Iraq and Afghanistan since October, 2001 . . . five pages of VERY small print, with a few vignettes and representative photos running down the outside of each page . . . reminds me so much of that Life magazine during Vietnam that had page after page of photos of guys killed in only one week . . . scanning the list is very depressing, as are the photos and the little stories . . . after the sadness, though, comes anger . . . and that's what I think the average American will feel when seeing this . . . props to Newsweek . . . may even renew my subscription . . .

4. tom_paine......you really feel that way about Newsweek? I cancelled my
subscription two years ago....and was never sorry when I saw the likes of Howard Fineman, Issikoff and others all over MSNBC and Matthews show.......

I've been picking up Time on my news stand occasionally but never Newsweek.

Could you explain why you've found them the "best?"

7. They are the best, because they are the least bad.

2. Newsweek has been hammering steadily at this Cabal
Of all the news rags I have to say Newsweek is the least conservative. It still has a lot of propaganda but it also tells a lot of the truth. It is worth keeping IMHO

11. Once again, I'm with you Bandit
Each issue, Newsweek hammers this chicken-hawk led misadministration. Week after week, I am pleasently suprised by how they keep the heat on.

I have a hard time reading all these and knowing the heartache these families feel (it happened to me in 1991 with poppy's war).

10. OMG, scrolling through this list gave me the same chills down the
spine as when I saw the wall(Vietnam) in D.C.

May these souls rest in peace.

On second thought, may many of their ghosts haunt Perle,Wolfowitz,Cheney,Rumsfeld, Rove and Bush for all eternity.

6. I have a subscription to Time...
but when I visit my Mom, I read her Newsweek. I read my first issue in probably a couple of years a month ago and I couldn't believe how much more critical they are of the war than Time is.

8. TIME is one of the most Repug news crap mags
NEWSWEEK has its problems, BUT at least it is
by far so much better than TIME, for mainstream
news mags that is.

THE NATION is by far the BEST.
If you must read either TIME or NEWSWEEK,
then make it NEWSWEEK.

9. Looks to me like the average age of the dead is older than VN
so they are even more likely to have spouses and children...the suffering isn't captured simply by numbers.
