I wonder what price McClintock will ask for to get him to bow out?
Dean was right the white house is orchestrating all of this.

His numbers might split between McClintock and Arnold. I wish Ueberroth would endorse McClintock just to piss off Arnold.

He wasn't going anywhere.
The Republican vote is really split between the True Believers of McClintock and the general star-struck Arnold fans.

7. Not good. I hope McLintock stays in. |
|
The split Repub vote, IMHO, makes it VERY unlikely that Ahhnold could win.

8. Californians... what's McLintock like? |
|
Is he a sane man who might see that this is just a right-wing power grab, and realize Governor Arnold would be very bad for California? Or is he just a party tool?

12. McClintock is a True Believer |
|
He is very conservative and very disiplined. This is an important campaign for him and I believe he is in it for the long haul. He doesn't believe Arnold is a "good" republican, rather that he has compromised and stretched the boundries of conservatism into too moderate of an arena.
This race better be very important for McClintock, an old-timey, long term politician with greater political ambitions than to be a mere state senator, because if he fails to win this election, and splits the votes allowing a Bustamonte win- he's finished in CA politics. The republican electorate will not sanction this act with their votes for him in a future election.
Very interesting stuff here!

9. If McClintock gets more of the Ueberroth vote than Arnold.. |
|
It would be bad news for Arnold because it would get McClintock much closer to Arnold and it could be anybody's race....

and just last night the talking heads were mulling about how if ueb and mcclintock dropped out, it would put arnold in the lead. but that ueb was showing absolutely no signs of dropping out. so, what happened between last night and now! is mcclintock next? have they really put their marbles behind arnold!
are we supposed to forget how they hounded clinton for almost 8 years for issues of morality and beyond - yet arnold is now the R's favorite son? ach tu lieb!

on how somebody CAN drop out now.
The ballots are printed - the sample ballots have been shipped. Absentee ballots are in the mail.
Maybe he'll just stop campaigning, but he'll still be on the ballot.

Even if someone drops out now, their name will still be on the ballot. It's conceivable that someone might still vote for someone who dropped out of the race this month.
However, McClintock has to stay in, otherwise Ahnuld will definitely gain momentum.

15. They will still be on the ballot |
|
But they will make it very clear to their supporters that they are not seeking the win and that they are now endorsing another candidate.
Voters may still vote for them, but it's really just a protest vote or wishful thinking at that point.
