Ueberroth OUT- Will McClintock follow? I say NO |
|
Peter Ueberroth just declared he's going to drop out of the race for Guv in CA. Presumably some of his votes will flow to Arnold and some will probably go to McClintock.
But with two strong republicans in the race, Bustamonte is still the winner.
The only way he loses is if McClintock walks away- and I say that won't happen. I have heard McClintock speak on the radio, etc. and he seems resolved to go all the way. Perot handed Clinton the win in 1992, McClintock will do the same for Bustamonte.
Oh, by the way, after this happens, McClintock can kiss his political future goodbye (unless he wants to change parties).

These young-ish republicans will not risk the wrath of the "oarty".. They have already come right out and said that there will be "ramifications".. Look at Issa.. It was HIS idea, mostly HIS money that got this thing started, and the powers that be decided that HE was not the one they wanted..
California is too important to the repubes.. They want Ahhhnoold to have a "clear field" and they will do whatever it takes to get the others out of the way..
The good thing is that even though they have "quit", their names will remain on the ballot, so hopefully, some of the drones will vote for them anyway instead of Ahhhnold..
This whole scenario might have even been "created" so that when the BBV fix goes through, it will seem "logical"...due to the "confusion"..:tinfoilhat:

McClintock seems awfully steely-eyed and resolved to me. And I don't wear as big a piece of tin-foil on my head as you, I guess, I don't think the WH or the mainstream republican party has a lot to do with this recall. Hell, a LOT of republicans are against it for a number of good reasons, and Boosh hasn't said much about it publicly to drum up any kind of support.
Honestly, I don't think Boosh gives a rats ass whether Davis is recalled or not or whether Bustamonte or Arnold takes his place- CA will not vote for him in 2004, and as far as he's concerned, we can just slide off into the ocean.

5. If you don't see Bush & Rove all over this, I guess I can't convince you, |
|
but I saw it from day one.. This whole recall is about "prepping" Calif for the 2004 election..
It's never been about Davis.. Davis is not a warm & fuzzy guy, people here are pragmatists, we don't necessarily have to LOVE our politicians.. The powers that be, saw that he was not "popular" and they were very unhappy that Simon did not win, so from the instant that Davis was re-elected, they set about finding "another way"...
BTW, Rover is messing around in Colorado politics too..:(
Everything is National these days, especially in states that matter.. Remember the 02 elections?? Those were anything BUT statewide/local elections.. It's all about setting up for 04 :(.. They leave nothing to chance:(
No :tinfoilhat: necessary

9. You could definitely convince me... |
|
that the WH is is behind the recall, if you were to present the facts and evidence. I've paid a lot of attention to both sides of the argument and so far, no one I've heard is making that case, except in the most general terms.
I am completely, 100% open-minded, and I've changed and modulated my opinion on many matters based on a persuasive argument. None of the democats I've listened to, DiFi, Bustamonte, etc. have articulated a strategy coming from the WH. If I am missing a crucial piece of information, please let me know. And that's not a hollow request that will be opposed and challenged- I mean it.
As far as 04, many pubs are pissed that the recall is setting them up for a weaker showing in the presidential race. Are these guys lying and shilling- is that a smoke screen, providing cover for the "real reason" behind the recall. I don't think so. But once again, I operate in the sunlight- maybe that's a weakness, I don't know!

6. Mc Clintock will never change parties. |
|
I will venture to guess he drops out. If he stays in the race, Repubs lose. IF he drops, he weilds ENORMOUS POWER by energizing Repubs and winning the state back should Arnold win. I predict he will drop and endorse Arnold.

the thing about him changing parties.
But you do have a point about him earning brownie points IF he does drop. But I see that as a massive "IF".

While I would never consider even entertaining the idea of voting for him, if someone with his record loses out to an AssHat like Arnold then I think its a sign that our political system is headed south. Plus, I hate Arnold that much.

13. Don't you think the Rovians are trying to talk McClintock into quitting? |
|
It could only help Ah-nuld... and I find this scenario frightening.
Stay in, McClintock, stay in! Help Bustamante win! Fracture the Republicans! Split the votes! Do It!!
:-)
It would give them a taste of Nader-medicine, Jennifer

14. Well that's what SoCalDem says, too- |
|
but I have not seen any real evidence of this other than just people tossing the idea around.
I'd love to sink my teeth into a juicy conspiracy here, but I don't see it.
That said, now that the pub field has ben winnowed down to 2 candidates, I would expect a tremendous amount of pressure being applied to either candidate to now quit. But I don't think that pressure will come from the WH as much as it might come from the CA republican party and sundry republicans.
I don't think Boosh and Co. want to be involved in any way on this matter. But that's just me...
