WorldNetDaily Claims Mel Gibson Threatened Frank Rich
snip.............

About Frank Rich, the New York Times columnist who implied Gibson's father is "a Holocaust denier," the director had some choice – and inflammatory – words: "I want to kill him. I want his intestines on a stick. I want to kill his dog."

Gibson said: "He never denied the Holocaust. He just said there were fewer than 6 million."

As proof of his desire to avoid confrontation, Gibson cited his decision to cut a scene in which Caiaphas says "his blood be on us and on our children" soon after Pontius Pilate washes his hands of the captive Christ.

"I wanted it in," he said. "My brother said I was wimping out if I didn't include it. But, man, if I included that in there, they'd be coming after me at my house. They'd come to kill me."

I was ok with Gibson doing whatever film he wanted to do. It's his right as an artist. I haven't seen his movie, so how am I to know that it's actually bad without seeing it?

HOWEVER, "The Passion" aside--if Gibson really did make those comments then I'll never pay to see another one of his movies for the rest of my life.

2. Mel Gibson is a self-important, Republican Jerk
I'd rather see George Clooney any day.

4. Frank Rich was on Imus today saying it was true.
I generally have little stomach for Imus, but I did pause long enough this morning to hear them talking about this very thing.

That still isn't proof though.

If true, I'm very upset with Gibson as well...even if he's just messing around to get publicity for the film.

And actually, tapping relgious intolerance for profit is just as bad if not worse than ignorant, blind hatred.

I'll hate it if this is true. I've always respected Gibson. Even though he's a republican, he seemed to at least respect human dignity.

P.S. Frank said he doesn't even have a dog.

5. Wow! My core-lefty personality AND my core-righty personality
BOTH despise Gibson if this is true.

a. Of, course, his laughable "defense" of his Dad is chilling; the classic rationale of a Denier.

b. The use of such invective by Mel might barely be acceptable if Rich had propagated such a slander, but considering that Rich HAD A POINT, it's completely disreputable.

c. His brother's RIGHT!! What an effing wimp. COMPROMISE the artistic integrity of his life's dream of a film because a few loud-mouth lefty-types might get pissed off? What a slime. If he was REAL artist, he woulda left it in and taken the blows. Did Ezra Pound shut up just because he was facing the DEATH PENALTY??
