Is It Not Treason Bush let Saudis fly yet Not Americans after 9-11 ?
Edited on Tue Sep-09-03 04:50 PM by protect freedom impe
Is it NOT TREASON that Bush let his Saudi business partners
fly OUT of the United States, yet Americans could not fly at all ?

At a minimum what Bush did is Un-American, and is grounds for
IMPEACHMENT.

Just think about that a while......

Saudis - who are business partners with BushSR, are allowed
a privilege that NO other American citizen was.

A privilege to fly out of the country AFTER the most terrible
terrorist act in US history.

TREASON ? I say yes it is.

--------------------------------------

And just WHY WHY WHY did it take 2 YEARS for the US news media to
FINALLY report what all of us here at DU knew 2 years ago.
The rest of the world knew that Bush allowed the Bin Ladens
to escape of their private planes just days after 9-11.

The BBC reporter Palast reported it then, as did other
foreign news.

The US news whores knew too, BUT they did not report it then.

WHY ? DID the Bush administration stop them ?
Did the Bush administration buy them off?
Did the Bush administration have all CIA paid newspapers
as disclosed in THE PIKE REPORT and CHURCH COMMITTEE REPORT ?

Powell's response to the bin Laden family airlift .....

Why does he say, "Well, I don’t know that that’s accurate." THEN he says, "the flights were well-known, and it was coordinated within the government."

http://www.msnbc.com/news/963025.asp

MR. RUSSERT: The cover of Time magazine tomorrow, headlined, The Saudis: Whose Side Are They On in the War on Terror? — in this release from Vanity Fair magazine, “Former White House counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke tells Vanity Fair that the Bush administration decided to allow a group of Saudis to fly out of the U.S. just after September 11 — at a time when access to U.S. airspace was still restricted and required special government approval. According to other sources at least four flights with about 140 Saudis, including roughly two dozen members of the bin Laden family, flew to Saudi Arabia that week — without even being interviewed or interrogated by the F.B.I.”

Why was that allowed?

SEC’Y POWELL: Well, I don’t know that that’s accurate. I don’t know the details of what happened. But my understanding is that there was no sneaking out of the country; that the flights were well-known, and it was coordinated within the government. But I don’t have the details about what the FBI’s role in it might or might not have been.

Officials Say Classified 9/11 Material Is 'Damning' | L.A. Times

Saudi Government Provided Aid to 9/11 Hijackers, Sources Say
By Josh Meyer, Times Staff Writer

WASHINGTON — The 27 pages deleted from a congressional report on Sept. 11 depict a Saudi government that not only provided significant money and aid to the suicide hijackers but also allowed potentially hundreds of millions of dollars to flow to al-Qaida and other terrorist groups through suspect charities and other fronts, according to sources familiar with the document.

One U.S. official who has read the classified section said it describes ``direct involvement of senior (Saudi) government officials in a coordinated and methodical way directly to the hijackers,'' as well as ``very direct, very specific links that cannot be passed off as rogue, isolated or coincidental.''

Said another official: ``It's really damning. What it says is that not only Saudi entities or nationals are implicated in 9/11, but the (Saudi) government'' as well.

snip........

However one interprets the 27 pages, all who have read them agreed on one thing: If they are made public, they will prove extremely embarrassing not only to the Saudi government, but the U.S. government as well, particularly the FBI for missing so many clues pointing to Riyadh and for not aggressively investigating them, sources said.

``If this comes out, it will blow the top off the relations with (the Saudi) government because the American people will just be outraged,'' said one source familiar with the report. ``We invaded Iraq for something tangential. And here we have a government whose senior leaders have very direct, very extensive links to the hijackers, to the actual people who got on the planes and flew them into those buildings.

Bush advisers cashed in on Saudi gravy train
by Maggie Mulvihill, Jack Meyers and Jonathan Wells
Tuesday, December 11, 2001

Second of two parts.

"Many of the same American corporate executives who have reaped millions of dollars from arms and oil deals with the Saudi monarchy have served or currently serve at the highest levels of U.S. government, public records show.
Those lucrative financial relationships call into question the ability of America's political elite to make tough foreign policy decisions about the kingdom that produced Osama bin Laden and is perhaps the biggest incubator for anti-Western Islamic terrorists.

Nowhere is the revolving U.S.-Saudi money wheel more evident than within President Bush's own coterie of foreign policy advisers, starting with the president's father, George H.W. Bush.
At the same time that the elder Bush counsels his son on the ongoing war on terrorism, the former president remains a senior adviser to the Washington D.C.-based Carlyle Group. That influential investment bank has deep connections to the Saudi royal family as well as financial interests in U.S. defense firms hired by the kingdom to equip and train the Saudi military.

Last year, former President Bush visited Saudi Arabia's King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, but a Carlyle spokesman said the two did not discuss Carlyle business as previously reported. The elder Bush is reportedly paid between $80,000 and $100,000 for each Carlyle speech he makes. The company declined comment on the former president's pay.

The Carlyle Group has also served as a paid adviser to the Saudi monarchy on the so-called ``Economic Offset Program,'' an arrangement that effectively requires U.S. arms manufacturers selling weapons to Saudi Arabia to give back a portion of their revenues in the form of contracts to Saudi businesses, most of whom are connected to the royal family. A company spokesman said yesterday that arrangement was ended ``a few months ago,'' but said he did not know whether it was terminated before or after the Sept. 11 attacks."

Graham: His 9-11 ‘Outrage’

The Florida senator says reported FBI and CIA failures inspired his
White House run

NEWSWEEK

What prompted Florida Sen. Bob Graham to join the Democratic presidential sweepstakes last week? The 66-year-old Graham—who recently had heart surgery—has toyed with the idea of running for years, but says he always lacked “fire in the belly.”

WHAT GAVE IT to him this time, he tells NEWSWEEK, was his experience last year overseeing a joint House-Senate inquiry into the events of 9-11. Graham says he became “outraged” by the intelligence and law-enforcement failures discovered by the inquiry—most of which, he charges, are still being suppressed by the Bush administration. The inquiry’s 400-page report can’t be publicly released because the administration won’t declassify key portions. Graham says the report documents far more miscues by the FBI and CIA than have been publicly revealed, as well as still unpursued leads pointing to “facilitation” of the hijackers by a “sovereign nation.”
(Sources say the country is Saudi Arabia.) “There’s been a cover-up of
this,” Graham said.

"You know why conservatives love the Saudi government?
Because it stands for everything they do. It oppresses women, it forces religion down people's throats, and it loves money above everything else. Those are the three fundamentals of conservatism."

The Bush Cartel Protects the Privacy of Possible Saudi Financiers of 9/11, But Invades the Privacy of Innocent Americans: Some Dare Call It Treason
November 25, 2002

A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY

The FBI and Justice Department have argued with the panel that disclosing even a possible Saudi link to the terrorist would further damage U.S.-Saudi relations, which have been under considerable strain since Sept. 11.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28099-2002Nov22.html

The excerpt and link above is incredible B.S. from the FBI and DOJ. In essence, they will not release vital information to the congressional investigative committee because it could ruin US - Saudi relations. We cannot delve into what part the Saudis may have played in the events of 9/11? If the links turn out to be true, who in this American hell would want relations with the Saudis? Who would want good relations with the enemy?!!! Is this why Senator Shelby made the remark that some results of the investigation border on treason?

We harass American Bush dissenters and peace advocates at our airports. Our phones can be wire-tapped and our computers electronically investigated. High schools must submit records of student bodies. "Poin(tless)dexter is pushing inspections of all of our private records (Hey John, by the way, I do squeeze the Charmin and I don't care what the hell you think!) Evidently, the administration isn't worried about ruining relations with Americans, are they? Just who is the enemy here? Considering the actions of the Administration through the FBI and DOJ, THE ENEMY IS US!. We find ourselves labeled part of Bush's "Axis of Evil."

America has declared war on Americans!

The Saudi Money Trail
Rent payments for 9-11 hijackers and mysterious checks from a princess’s account. Is there a Saudi tie to terror? Inside the probe the Bush administration doesn’t want you to know about

By Michael Isikoff And Evan Thomas
NEWSWEEK

Dec. 2 issue — When the two Qaeda operatives arrived at Los Angeles International Airport around New Year’s 2000, they were warmly welcomed. Nawaf Alhazmi and Khalid Almihdhar would help hijack American Airlines Flight 77 and crash it into the Pentagon a year and a half later, but that January in Los Angeles, they were just a couple of young Saudi men who barely spoke English and needed a place to stay.

MYSTERY MAN
Who is al-Bayoumi? At various times, the affable father of four told people that he was getting his doctorate at San Diego State, though the school has no record he ever attended. He told others that he was a pilot for the Saudi national airline. He apparently did work for Dallah Avco, an aviation-services company with extensive contracts with the Saudi Ministry of Defense and Aviation, headed by Prince Sultan, the father of the Saudi ambassador to the United States, Prince Bandar. According to informed sources, some federal investigators suspect that al-Bayoumi could have been an advance man for the 9-11 hijackers, sent by Al Qaeda to assist the plot that ultimately claimed 3,000 lives.

......................A spokesperson for Princess Haifa told NEWSWEEK that she had no idea the money was going to the al-Bayoumi family or that it might in any way be used for some nefarious purpose. Saudi officials and members of the royal family routinely give money to supplicants who need medical or financial help and write the embassy. Dweikat’s husband, Osama Basnan, had first pleaded to the Saudi Embassy for help in 1998, saying that he needed money to treat his wife’s thyroid condition. At the time, Prince Bandar wrote Basnan a $15,000 check. The monthly payments to his wife, Majeda, began in January 1999 and ended only last summer. Until she was contacted late last week by NEWSWEEK, Princess Haifa was unaware that the payments are being investigated by U.S. authorities, according to the spokesperson.

9-11 FAILURES?
Questions over the money trail have enflamed a fierce, behind-the-scenes struggle between two congressional committees looking into 9-11 and the Bush administration. ..........more......

FBI AND US SPY AGENTS SAY BUSH SPIKED BIN LADEN PROBES BEFORE 11 SEPTEMBER
The Guardian (London)

Officials told to 'back off' on Saudis before September 11
by Greg Palast and David Pallister

FBI and military intelligence officials in Washington say they were prevented for political reasons from carrying out full investigations into members of the Bin Laden family in the US before the terrorist attacks of September 11.

US intelligence agencies have come under criticism for their wholesale failure to predict the catastrophe at the World Trade Centre. But some are complaining that their hands were tied.

FBI documents shown on BBC Newsnight last night and obtained by the Guardian show that they had earlier sought to investigate two of Osama bin Laden's relatives in Washington and a Muslim organisation, the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), with which they were linked.

The FBI file, marked Secret and coded 199, which means a case involving national security, records that Abdullah bin Laden, who lived in Washington, had originally had a file opened on him "because of his relationship with the World Assembly of Muslim Youth - a suspected terrorist organisation".

To Protect Top Bureaucrats, NY Times SCRUBS Its OWN Osama Bin Laden Warning That It Published on 9-9-01

by Bob Fertik

On 9-9-01 - just two days before Osama Bin Laden's attack on the US - the NY Times published a lengthy and chilling article about Osama Bin Laden by reporter John Burns. Some time after 9-11, the Times SCRUBBED this article, replacing it with a completely different article that Burns wrote on 9-12. Both articles discuss a 2-hour videotape by Bin Laden that intelligence agencies first saw in June 2001, but ignored until September.

Why was the 9-9 article scrubbed? Read it yourself - we've UNSCRUBBED it. We believe it demonstrates the GROSS NEGLIGENCE of the CIA, NSA, Justice Department, and the White House in the events leading to 9-11. These agencies had MANY warnings, but the people at the top IGNORED them, at a cost of over 3,000 lives and billions of dollars. ALL OF THESE SCREWUPS REMAIN IN THEIR JOBS!!! We demand a Blue Ribbon Commission on 9-11 and a thorough housecleaning - not a Congressional Coverup!

Unscrubbers Note: The article below was originally published here:
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/09/09/international/asia/09OSAM.html

This article is no longer available on the NY Times site, either directly or through a search of the archives. This scrub was not accidental, however, since this URL was deliberately programmed to forward here:

where you can read the post-911 "revision" by the former "newspaper of record".

On Videotape, Bin Laden Charts a Violent Future
By JOHN F. BURNS

The image on the grainy videotape is mesmerizing: a tall, slim, middle- aged Arab man, with the bushy beard, white robes and draped white headcloth of a devout Muslim, standing before a gathering somewhere in Afghanistan. He is reading an Arabic poem, apparently his own, on papers that riffle in a breeze.

The speaker's style is that of the fire-and-brimstone preachers common at Friday Prayers across the Middle East. But he is no imam, nor even, by calling, a poet. He is Osama bin Laden, the 46-year-old Saudi-born fugitive millionaire who has declared a "holy war" against the United States, directing suicide bombings that have made him the F.B.I.'s most-wanted terrorist.

Bush Lied.

Bush Documents Supporting Iraq Attack Do Not Exist

In a September 7 press conference with Prime Minister Blair, Bush leaned on what he called a report from the International Atomic Energy Commission, based on Hussein's nixing of inspections in 1998. "I would remind you that when the inspectors first went into Iraq and were denied—finally denied—access, a report came out...that they were six months away from developing a weapon," the president said. "I don’t know what more evidence we need." But last week the commission claimed that no such document exists. "There’s never been a report like that issued from this agency," Mark Gwozdecky, head of the group, told Reuters last week. Asked why Bush referred to an apparently imaginary document, the White House claimed he was really talking about a report from 1991. But Gwozdecky told Reuters no paper to that effect was issued by his agency in 1991, either. --James Ridgeway, Sept. 30, 2002

Journalists Targeted by DC Police- The Road To Fascism

Journalists Targeted by Police

The DC Independent Media Center held a press conference on Monday, 9/30, on the repressive tactics by the DC Metro Police Dept. preventing journalists from reporting what they were observing on the first day of protest against the Fall meetings of the IMF/World Bank. Additionally, the MPD targeted specific DC Independent Media Center (DC IMC) journalists--arresting and incarcerating them--in violation of freedom of the press. Video proof was presented of two specific IMC reporters being targetted and then arrested.

US News and World Report, the Washington Post, a Canadian journalist with Magnum Photo, and several others were also arrested the same Friday morning, when a total of 639 people were arrested. The specific issues and voices of the Friday protests did not get in the news, partly due to the arrests of journalists.

The second half of the press conference had arrested speakers from the Pagan Cluster, the Anti-Capitalist Convergence, and the Radical Action Network of Trainers. They likened the undemocratic nature of World Bank and IMF decisions, to the denial of democracy, freedom of speech and assembly, enforced by the MPD on the streets of Washington DC. The police arrested 639 people, including Legal aid observers and medics.

Letter to Parents from Wife/Mother of Two Arrested at Pershing Park

Let me tell you what was done on Friday, September 27th. It was done in your name in your capitol city to your children.

They are so young and so idealistic that they still believe in the preposterous notions we taught them in kindergarten. They still believe in peace and justice.

My Dear Fellow Americans,

Let me tell you what was done on Friday, September 27th. It was done in your name in your capitol city to your children.

They are so young and so idealistic that they still believe in the preposterous notions we taught them in kindergarten. They still believe in peace and justice.

They are so young and so energetic that they can still sing, dance, drum, march, build beautiful banners and puppets, create street theater, and yes, express rage.

They were doing all this for you. They are trying to tell you that you have lost your way. To point out to you that you are actually discussing as a rational proposition that we bomb a small country as a “preventative” measure. They want you to see that this proposition is the negation of every moral principle that stands between us and utter chaos.

They spoke to you with dancing and singing and beating on drums. (So young and so beautiful!) They obeyed the orders of the policemen, those policemen you taught them to run to if they were afraid. They followed the rules. “You have a right to speak freely and to assemble to express your grievances.” Isn’t that the rule you taught them?

Let me tell you what the nice policemen did. They said, “don’t go over there with your protests. Come over here into the park.” Your children obeyed them. Then they said “Go further into the park. Stand close together. Do not move. No, you may not leave.” Then they bound their arms behind their backs with plastic straps, tight. Then they loaded them onto the buses, and transported them across the river. There they were kept, bound and seated, for fourteen hours. Some of them cried. Some pleaded. Mostly they sang songs and played games to encourage one another.

After midnight they were taken from the buses into the large gymnasium of a police training building. There they were strapped into plastic shackles: left-wrist-to -right ankle. They could not stand or kneel. They were kept in this position for another fourteen hours. Because they are young and strong and loving they kept one another’s spirits up.

The police are “the law” isn’t that right? The “law” told your children that they had to pay a fine and sign a paper admitting that they had “failed to obey”. If they didn’t they would be kept in the gymnasium in the painful shackles for two more days, until Monday. Perhaps because you raised them right, but more likely because the young are also
vulnerable, they believed and signed.

I saw many of them sobbing as they left.

I was there to pick up my daughter on Saturday afternoon. along with her father, my husband. He was corralled and cuffed and transported from the park too. He was dressed in his best navy blue pinstripe business suit. He just came for an hour, the park being just a block from his office. He likes to go with her to encourage her to participate in these demonstrations “legally” so as not to go to jail. It has been so painful to us when she has been jailed in other protests. He’s “elderly” though he’d never answer to that description. He’s sixty-nine and a half. Bad knee. Poor circulation. Although he’d be quick to point out that he
can still jog four miles or play a round of handball. He was shackled for fourteen hours as well. Left wrist to right ankle.

So my Dear Fellow American parents, I hope you have some tears left to shed for your children. We’ve shed so many this year. They are your better selves. They still believe that you can be “good”. If you do not allow them to speak, if you refuse to listen, what measurement will you use to judge the morality, or even the wisdom of your actions?

Ignore these voices at your own peril. It is never the “other” who is our greatest threat. It is us.
