Degenerate kills baby when father won't surrender income tax return

A 2-year-old boy shot Thursday during a robbery attempt at his family's Forest Park home has died, police said Friday.

Xavier Miranda died Friday morning at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, according to Clayton County police Capt. Jeff Turner.

The toddler was shot after a man burst into his family's townhouse, held a gun to the the boy's head and began counting down, according to police.

As the gunman made his demands, the boy's aunt unexpectedly walked into the apartment and the man fired two shots, hitting the child in the neck, Turner said.

According to an account the boy's father gave to police, the man came into the apartment on Morrow Road and grabbed the boy by the collar and demanded that the father hand over money from his income tax refund check.
