FOX NEWS is not a "news" network.... |
|
Surprisingly no one has filed a class-action suit against them for false advertising. It is not only the "fair and balanced" slogan that is "wholly without merit", it is the FOX NEWS slogan right above it. In reality, they are an opinion network.
Roger Ailes and the big shots of FOX-TV have admitted that they chose to do commentary on news reports, rather than to go to location and report first hand. It was much more economical from a business standpoint and doing commentary on the news was much more interesting to their viewing audience. So they put right-wing pundits in the chairs to comment on the news of the day and they called it "news". By doing so, they were able to surpass CNN as the major "news" network in the country.
The latest example is their commentary on the Democratic debate on their network last night. If they were serious journalists and "news" people, they would have reported on the event in a "fair and balanced" manner. For example, they could have reported on the disruptors that drowned out the candidates several times. They could have reported what the candidates said about the issues and about George W Bush, without their personal swipes and comments. They could have reported on the exchange between Lieberman and Dean. There was "news" to report but they chose to do what they do best. Right-wing commentary... and they want to be called a "NEWS" network. Give us a break!

During the day when nobody watches, so technically it's true. Suing them over "fair and balanced" is just as stupid as their lawsuit against Al Franken. Fairness and Balance(ness?) are all relative to the viewer. I have friends who believe it's "fair and balanced." I also have friends who want Sean Hannity imprisoned, so you can't sue over something so relative as their motto.

8. Yep. It's as fair and balanced as (say) |
|
"King of Queens". (You see, it's entertainment, well at least to some.)

3. I have to agree with you, |
|
they are shameless. I was watching last night too and instead of recapping what was said, they just danced a bunch of hairdo's around and bashed the Dems'. I heard them spout how the democrats don't have a plan and that they just bashed Bush all night long. It was pitiful and I turned it off.
This moring they are calling it a "bashapoloza on Bush". If you ask me, we need to have a few more of these festivals at least one a week.

5. CNN should do an ad based on this idea. |
|
"Welcome to CNN. A real news network (unlike Fox News)"
