Al Franken on daily Show last night ~ Anyone see him?
He was point blank dead on. No beating around the bush. He called Fox News, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Wall Street Journal Editorial pages, Sean Hannity, and all other right-wingers LIARS He also mentioned Bush* being AWOL from National Guard. Only thing wrong with the interview was it was too short.

3. It was good
Since many of his followers have already heard his "Democratic Campaign Ad" joke, I wish he would have made some comments on the Sunday Speech, but as you said, like many Daily Show interviews, it was too short.

4. He's great! All that stuff is in the book too (and more). Jon stank.
Sorry, but when you blanket bomb the opposition that's no longer satire. The only purpose it serves is to debase the process. And he made all the Fux poins ("they attack, but have no alternatives). Jon is doing more damage than Limpballs these days, by telling young people "It's not cool to be politically involved, vote, etc"

17. I agree with most of your post...but
as for an alternative...how about telling the truth and letting it stand on its own merits? That's an alternative. It is only when a government lies that it become illegitimate. If the people know what's happening and support, then that's called Democracy. The alternative is truth. The alternative is Democracy.

I understand your point and generally tend to agree...but over a year ago Ralph Nader made that point on The Daily Show. Jon said, "what do you guys want?" Ralph said, "Simple. Democracy."

5. It was a re-run that I saw the first time!
Apparently they are taking a week of vacation - no fair!

He was great, however; I just love him.

Do you remember him from The Daily Show with Bill Maher during the 1996 campaign? He and Arianna Huffington used to do bits in bed together and it was called 'Strange Bedfellows'.

:hi:

7. No
He said he just got back from vacation.

And they mentioned the debate in Baltimore that night, so it had to be filmed yesterday (the show part of it, that is, sometimes they film the interviews separately, but I think even that was filmed yesterday - Franken was talking in his car while driving to The Talk of the Nation studio yesterday, doing the rounds.)

8. Re-run??? They mentioned Bush*'s Sunday speech.
I'm sure it was current because Jon said he just got back from two week vacation. In fact made a deal about taking only half as much vacation as Bush*.

12. Yeah! I remember Al & Arianna pillow fighting too!!!
When one of them would make a comment the other didn't like, they would knock one another with the pillows...damned funny!!!

As an aside...quite a journey Arianna has taken since then (she was still a Republican shill at this point)...

13. Franken's itching to see ads contrasting Kerry and Bush.
Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 10:00 AM by blm
That would go over with the American people as much, if not more than any other issue. They can GET that Bush went AWOL for over a year if they just get the chance to find out. It's a perfect example of exactly who Bush is and what kind of character he possesses. Especially while EXTENDING the service of those who HAVE fulfilled their duty.

14. Thankful
Al was great. He and Jon had a great thing going.

I am so thankful that Jon Stewart is out there fighting the good fight. Some days his show is the only thing that gives me hope that not everyone is a sheep waiting to be hauled off for the slaughter.

16. Yes,
as far as I'm concerned, The Daily Show provides the best news on tv!

BTW, welcome elfwitch: :yourock: !

P.S. and my opinion of The Daily Show has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I have a crush on Jon Stewart, just nothing at all, ok?
