What will we do with all the monkeys? |
|
Sorry Kucinich supporters. I like your guy I just found this to be quite funny. Hope you don't take it too personal. Last night's Daily Show for those who don't know what I'm talking about.

4. I disliked the gnome slam... |
|
but, I had to admit the monkeys part was funny, not as a slam on Dennis but, as a slam on an American electorate that tends to be too shallow to elect a great man like Kucinich.

15. The Gnome comment came from here |
|
When I heard that comment I knew for a fact that the Daily Show has readers here. The entire gnome comment and ring thing were lifted from a DK can't win thread that popped up here some time ago.

I guess Stewart thought he'd better give the debaters some grief or he'd be called "partisan" in his coverage of the daily news.
But the best line of the evening was when Stewart showed the portion of the Bush speech video where he mentions a letter he received from an Army captain in Iraq, and how proud the soldier was to be fighting such a noble fight or whatever. Stewart commented that the White House had to search long and hard through the letters from the troops to find that one; the other 129,999 letters said "Get me the outta here!"

It was a great joke, but you kinda saw it coming. My favorite part of last night's show was the bit about restoring basic services, health care, roads, etc. and the subsequent line about West Virginia.
Jon tries not to let his disgust show through, but every time he shows a clip of the Chimp in charge, you can see in his eyes that he just wants to scream.
Jon is the only guy out there regularly showing GW to be the blubbering fool he is. Some days Jon is the only thing that gives me hope.

and yet there was no comment similar to "And you thought getting bird crap off your windshield was a nuisance."
Kucinich is my first choice for 2004, and I laughed pretty hard at Stewart's comments

But did anybody notice that Kucinich got more attention and face time than any of the other candidates Stewart talked about?
Still my favorite Daily Show moment had to be the one with Dean's appearance on the Larry King show-- "yes, folks, THAT'S HIS REAL SMILE!"

12. but he also called Dennis the ring bearer |
|
which I thought was good. LoTR fans certainly will think that's good. Frodo is a hero. He dissed all the candidates but I do think Dennis took the bigger hits. That's just John Stewart.
Overall the show was good especially on the Al Franken bit where they both clearly called the right wing media and the bu$h regime liars. Franken said the liars (media) were lying to protect the liars in the admin. At first he said less than honest administration and then cleared it up and said liars. Lying liars. There you have it.
Al describes the ad he suggested the Dems should run in his book. He has embellished it more now, but basically the gist is call bu$h for playing dress up with his stunt as a fighter pilot after he declared the war over. If nothing else I think the talented Flash file producers here on DU should make that so. I think it would be very popular and be funny too.

Not just for Dennis (that was a harsh on Dennis), but dang that's a good one.
"I think Bush is going to make peace in the Middle East." "Ah yes, but what would we do with the monkeys?"

Should be our standard comeback to every thing Bush* says. What will we do with all the monkeys? Great line. It was harsh on Dennis I agree but great line none the less.
