6. Popularity requires at least 51% unless you live in California
then you just need to be a little more popular than 135 other candidates

For some reason, your line made me flash on the...

Chastity: I know you can be under whelmed,
and you can be overwhelmed, but can you
ever just be, like, whelmed?

Bianca: I think you can in Europe.

I'll bet you anything that Bush's approval will be at 40 and
his disapproval at 60.

20. I Agree
I'm only afraid of what it will be, since I'm sure that boosting numbers was the goal of the Sunday 87 billion dollar disaster.

It's amazing how smarmy the administration that's "returning integrity to the White House" is willing to openly be! :spank:

Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 11:31 AM by ameriphile
While these poll results are good news, we mustn't be led to think that they guarantee a Democratic victory next November. George Bush is expected to raise $200 million dollars for his reelection campaign-- that's one-fifth of a billion dollars, and that will buy Karl Rove's spin machine a whole country's worth of lies.

Americans must continue hammering away at this administration's weaknesses, and we must keep exposing their true motives. Don't dare underestimate them.

28. To be realistic. . .
Zogby is the only pollster that gives "Fair" as an option, and then counts it as negative. Yes the poll numbers have fallen way off, but some percentage of people that answer "fair" would certainly not consider it negative.

That cocksucker's going down. Here's hoping that this time next year the only thing he can get elected to is the Carlyle Group board of directors, with the other washed up conservatives like his dad and John Major.

33. A board slot for aWol? Not with his track record, I'd think.
Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 12:00 PM by TacticalPeak

In a column posted yesterday on Salon.com, Joe Conason writes: "Preferring to avoid public scrutiny for obvious reasons, executives at the Carlyle Group usually say nothing about their firm's connections with the Bush dynasty. But last April 23, Carlyle managing director David Rubenstein spoke quite frankly about the comfy sinecure he provided to George W. Bush more than a decade ago -- and how useless Bush turned out to be. Whether he knew it or not, Rubenstein's remarks to the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association were recorded."

Rubenstein said, "We put (Bush) on the board and (he) spent three years. Came to all the meetings. Told a lot of jokes. Not that many clean ones. And after a while I kind of said to him, after about three years - you know, I'm not sure this is really for you. Maybe you should do something else. Because I don't think you're adding that much value to the board. You don't know that much about the company.

Rubenstein continued: "He said, well I think I'm getting out of this business anyway. And I don't really like it that much. So I'm probably going to resign from the board. And I said, thanks - didn't think I'd ever see him again. His name is George W. Bush. He became President of the United States. So you know if you said to me, name 25 million people who would maybe be President of the United States, he wouldn't have been in that category. So you never know. Anyway, I haven't been invited to the White House for any things."

36. You know what bugs me about that graph
This guy has been given TWO opportunities to redeem himself in the polls with events that elevated his numbers and had folks jumping on board to support him (9/11 and Iraq invasion).

If the guy was smart he'd work with the numbers, throw a few bones to us common folks in order to keep his numbers up there. But instead he'll get these sharp peaks upward and play on those numbers in the media even though he's sinking.

If you notice there are no upward sloping trends. Just sharp upward spikes and then slow downward slopes.
