Anyone see Biden on Charlie Rose last night??
He didn't seem to be pandering so much to Bush....
He was interesting with his comments about the "fissure" in the Administration and how Bush "vacillated" between the Powell side (Powell and State) versus the Neo-con side (Rummy, Wolfie, and Defense). The interview was the Int'l Editor from Newsweek...starts with an F, I forget his name. He felt that if the Powell side "won" that Powell could forge a deal with the UN/Europe. He said the only way the mess could be salvaged was if the Powell side prevailed.

Anyway, Biden was asked if he thought Bush really was interested in dealing with the UN and Biden said "He didn't know." He said his sources in Europe told him that the Europeans would be willing to put people in Iraq if they were treated as "equals" in terms of having their opinions heard. But he really wasn't sure if Bush could see that at this point.

He also said that if Iraq isn't stablized then within 18 months at least two more Arab gov'ts would fall, Iran would become the predominant power in the ME and the Israeli-Palestinian mess would be even worse.

When Biden wants to, he can be a very effective speaker on these issues.
When he panders to Bush, he can be damned aggravating....

1. Joe Biden reminds me of a windsock.
The wind was blowing in Dumbya's face last night.

2. Gloria, I didn't see it....but I heard him on the Senate floor yesterday
on C-Span and had to turn it off after a few minutes. His posturing was that of a man "full of power" and he was giving a speech talking about job loss while trying to imitate the speech of the "common blue collar worker" of yesterday compared to the white collar worker who really wears a blue collar today.

The text of his speech might make a good read, but his delivery was pompous, arrogant, pandering......

He reminds me of Tweety......He walks out every morning with his finger in the wind to see whether it's blowing Liberal or Conservative that day......comes back in, checks his mirror to make sure his hair plugs are still sprouting, applies touch up concealer, don's his Saville Row suit and then heads out to face his day bloviating about whatever he thinks will further his interests.

I find him disgusting......but, thanks for the report. Many folks like and admire him......They may not remember what he allowed to be done to Anita Hill.........

3. Many of us Remember Him Ramming the "RAVE ACT" Down Our Throats
Without debate or a vote in either house, in the dead of night, in conference committee, Biden attached the entire Rave Act to the Amber Bill, so there was no way it could ever be defeated.

He knew the Rave Act was very unpopular, since it's introduction the year before had brought tens of thousands of phone calls, letters, and faxes in opposition to it, and the opposition had continued as text of the Rave Act was introduced, again and again, as part of one bill and another. Clearly all this public input was merely an annoyance to be circumvented.

No doubt he justified this assault on democracy by citing the Riucarte study,
which has now been exposed as entirely fraudulent. (They were feeding those
poor animals *speed*, not ecstacy).

Since its passage, the Rave Act has been used to supress political rallies as
well as dance events. It is so broad it could be used against any gathering
that the authorities don 't like. Very handy for the BFEE.
