Lingering questions about anthrax attacks of 2001.

The anthrax attacks of 2001 have been all but forgotten by the illustrious media and Faux News watching boobs. And then there are the Freepers who probably applauded the attacks since most of the attacks were directed at Democrats and the media.

I, however, have not forgotten about the anthrax attacks. Certain questions I have about the attacks have been nagging at me. Those questions are as follows...

Why did the anthrax mailings stop? Were the anthrax mailings a test run or a statement? If the mailings were a test, was the test a success or failure? If the mailings were a statement, what was that statement?

The answers to the above questions might help shed some light on the most important question... Who sent the anthrax?

So far, the three competing theories as to who sent the anthrax are as follows...

1. The anthrax was sent by a lone nutcase like The Unabomber.

2. The anthrax was sent by a foreign power.

3. The anthrax was sent by some rogue element within the U.S. government.

I doubt the first theory that the anthrax sender was a lone nutcase. If the anthrax sender was a lone nutcase, then I highly doubt he or she would have stopped the anthrax mailings so abruptly. Like The Unabomber, a lone nutcase would have continued until caught.

I also doubt the second theory that the anthrax was sent by a foreign power since I doubt that a foreign power seeking to do harm to our government would send anthrax to Democrats only.

No, the anthrax attacks were the work of some rogue element within our own government. That is the theory that seems the most plausible to me now given all that we know.

1. Well, define "rogue."

My theory is that the anthrax attacks were accomplished with the full but tacit endorsement of Cheney and the PNACer's. I mean, if you were gonna target the seats of media and political power, who would you target? Cheney? Rumsfeld? Fox News and Murdoch? Probably. Why go after Daschle, Leahy and Brokaw unless you wanted to scare anti-Patriot Act pundits into acquiesence with the Administration (which is exactly what happened.)?

2. While I don't think the anthrax mailer

acted alone, like the Unabomber, remember that the Unabomber stopped mailing bombs for a very long time -- six or seven years? -- when he thought he was close to being caught.

Perhaps the same thing with the anthrax mailer, perhaps he/she/they got spooked that he/she/they were close to being caught and are simply lying low. For now.

I think when the anthrax mailer is finally caught, we're all going to be surprised as to the actual identity. Remember the DC sniper? Who of us thought it would turn out to be a man and his teen accomplice who were on some kind of weird vendetta? Certainly not me.

3. Allah Rakah was arrested on 11/2/01

and no more anthrax mailings. I know that doesn't prove anything, but I find it a little reassuring. He was turned over to INS and I haven't heard anymore about him.

He's Pakistani, and that doesn't explain why he was targeting Democrats. So my guess is that he was working for someone here at home, possibly in our government.

Remember, Bush took Cipro on 9/11, well before any anthrax mailings.

4. Don't forget this little factoid

The White House was taking Cipro BEFORE the 1st case was known....and Cipro, as I understand it, is not recommended as a precautionary medicine. So did they know something we didn't? And there is some interesting coincidence that the guy who contracted/died from the first attack was the guy who had some not so flattering pics of the Bush twins published. Also some tie in to the person who rented rooms to some of the terrorists in FL.

Amazing how we haven't been able to nail down the perp....even though we know the strain was weapons-grade material made from the Ames strain at Ft. Dietrick.

6. Something else to remember

is that the possibility of an anthrax attack was mentioned before one ever occurred. I remember it being mentioned in the immediate aftermath of Sept 11, and thinking, how weird. And then, about two weeks later, the first case came to light.
