Are Democrats Tougher on Bush or Dean? |
|
If they fought as hard against Bush over the last three years as they are against Dean, we'd have the House AND Senate.

He made his name by coming out against the war, by pointing out the Bush junta's bullshit, and by having an unprecedented online machine.
A few shots across the bow to the Bush apologist crowd maybe just woke you up. Good morning.

So take the blindfold off and re-read what I said. Dean apologized for using the term Bushlite.

|
That was back when the Democrats in Congress were pretty much hoping that Dean would go away and were saying that all who oppose the Iraq war (which Dean did) were "soft on defense".

14. talk about a steaming pile |
|
Dean was the first to attack the other candidates as "Bush lite" and "DLC" - while Dean himself is a Rockefeller Republican and a former member of the DLC who spent his governorship as an "ambassador" for NAFTA - the ultimate DLC creation.
Any objective observer can read DU and see Dean supporters bashing the other candidates in one thread, and whining about Dean bashing in the other.
At least I admit that I bash the candidates I don't like (Dean, Kerry, Graham, and Lieberman).

Dean himself has been pretty cool about not giving Rove soundbites for the other guys. When Dean does slip up, an apology is usually given.

when it comes to providing GOP soundbites. I watched both of the debates, and Lieberman was a shameless Republican - I was shocked. None of the other candidates have done that.

And when he did he apologized for it and has been pretty cool since. Most of his attacks are on Dem policy, not the Dem candidate.

besides that, I feel that any Democrat who is a centrist and in some cases fairly conservative, who then stands on his "liberal" platform to win an election (any election) deserves to be questioned.

I have no idea where you get this, but I've seen and read many interviews, debates, etc, where he'll specifically say he's a centrist.
Can you point to any reference or situation where Dean has touted himself as being some hardcore liberal?

|
don't make up straw men to attack, please. Dean is *not* a liberal and has never once said he is a liberal. The media tries to portray him as a liberal. If you've got a beef with that description take it up with big media.

He did attack some of them. And they very well deserved it. Bending over for Bush and saying "giddy-up!" reaps its own consequences also.

Edwards is a lightweight pretty-boy warsucking toady to the fascists with no loyalty to keep the senate seat that he betrays us all by misusing so. Graham's an old fuddy-duddy. Just thought I'd cover all the bases here...
EVERYONE takes hits. Some are fair, some are unfair. Many Deanies just don't want to accept that their guy has personally attacked the others on a regular basis.
As you probably know, I'm an Edwards supporter and feel he's potentially a true statesman for the ages. I personally like the others except Lieberman and increasingly Dean, and any would be worlds better than Junior.

understand the primary process(not all). The leader is always attacked. When Kerry and Lieberman were considered the front-ruinners, Dean attacked. Now that he (arguably) is the front-runner, he is being attacked. No surprise at all. The strongest and smartest will prevail.

17. Democrats should fight both men with an equal sense of urgency |
|
Since a Dean nomination=Bush re-election.
This is an important moment in our country's history, and we can't send an unelectable candidate like Dean to face Bush. It would be a disaster for the Democratic Party and America. Dean supporters are irresponsible and selfish and don't care anything about the future of this country, only about "sticking it" to the Democratic establishment.
