How can any thinking person actually believe the official story of 911?
Doesn't anyone wonder why:

1. the family of first person identified as responsible for 911 (Osama) has been in business with the Bush family for decades? This family was also allowed to fly in US restricted aisrspace when noone else was?

2. the second person identified as responsible for 911 (Saddam) was working with the Bushes for decades

3. the bushes seem have established a pattern of turning against their former friends to instigate military action:
- Saddam Huessein
- Osama bin Laden
- Manuel Noriega

4. Halliburton is cashing in billions of dollars of no-bid contracts, and is still paying the vice president over a million dollars a year. Halliburton was doing business with Saddam Hussein while Cheney was calling them evil in his provate foreign policy think tank.

5. Bush found out about the attacks and still went to seek a plausible cover in an elementary school, while the terror plan was executed. Can you believe that the pentagon was left completely undefended after two jets crashed into the WTC towers?

6. The 9-11 attack produced a huge ratings spike and unlimited power and loyalty to the administration who used that loyalty to tell lies that got over 30,000 iraqis and americans killed in another subsequent quest for fossil fuels.

7. There has been no investigaton of 911, but instead stonewalling.

How can any thinking person accept these things and shrug them off?

Does anyone really believe that the really Republicans had some other elaborate plans for Bush's presidency? What agenda would they have been pursuing without 911?

12. " Mega leftist spins"
- Who the hell are you...a 'mega rightist'?

- Some of you still won't accept the truth...even as the sound of the hobnail boot is heard outside your window.

- It's not 'spin' that Bush* knew about the attack BEFORE he went into the school. It's not spin that he sat there for over 20 minutes listening to children read while thousands burned alive.

- It really pisses me off that you and others can so easily dismiss these charges of negligence and malfeasance. These are facts...ignored by the media and democrats alike.

24. What's your purpose? To simply shut down a thread like this?
There are so many unanswered questions about 9/11 that if I think about them all, my head spins and green vomit projects itself...we will never get answers as long as the Shrubbites are in office.

And I'm increasingly suspicious that we won't even get them if Dems take over, which saddens me to no end.

The idea that anyone who asks questions is somehow crazy, nutso, loony, far-out, etc. is far-rightist bullshit.

Again, what's your purpose? you don't like the post, stay out of the thread.

5. The answer is in your own question
"How can any thinking person accept these things"

Accepting is not related to thinking, in this case. For most people on this issue, emotion determines viewpoint, whether it's fear, anger, sorrow, hatred, or any other strong emotion. Or there is an inbred deferral to authority. Or psychic numbness.

8. So the answer is that no thinking person can accept these?
That seems to be the logical follow through.

9. I'm with you
But I'm kind of exhausted with it. Of course there's something ugly hidden under the surface, and it has to do with Bush's connections to bin Laden. I must be investigated, but it won't be until Bush is out of the White House.

I just don't see how anyone could look at the facts and accept the "official story"; things just don't fit.

Or, people may think it through, have concerns, doubts and questions, and then defer their own understanding to that of some trusted anuthority figure--in a word, denial.

11. Agreed, it stinks badly. Remember Asscroft using private jets?
in summer of 2001? He wouldn't use regular air transportation. * had his first month-long working vacation down in Texas that August. So these guys tried taking themselves out of harm's way.

And WTF was * doing down in Florida on the day of the attack, anyway????????

as his plausible deniability excuse. But, it appears that something went wrong with the timing of the attacks, so they were confused as to what to do, thus you have the Chief Executive sitting on his ass reading about a goat when he should have been taking charge.

I think if the pentagon crash had happened on time, there would have been no question to answer about why NORAD was not scrambled, and bush would not have looked like a careless man who didn't do his job.

The plan was almost perfect, but some execution failures have caused the gaping holes in the official story.

But hey - we can believe the official story if it's easier to handle... Heck, we can pretend that he didn't lie to us about Iraq and the WMDs. We can even pretend there's a real good reason why those 30,000 people are dead... And we can pretend that his campaign contributers aren't profitting off of that mass murder spree. After all, no US president would knowingly hurt other people for political and financial benefit, we all know that.

14. You won't get much debate on this.
Too many Bush* supporters here. But I know what you mean. I discuss the points you listed with family members and close friends and most of them don't pay attention and are shocked when I tell them and say stuff like "wow, I didn't know that". Because conspiracy theories get such a bad rap, the truth about 9/11 will never get investigated properly, imo.

17. Oh please.
Do you actually believe that flight 93 wasn't shot out of the sky? Do you actually believe that Bush didn't know about it? 9/11 gave Bush carte blanche to conquer people. It was the best thing that ever happened to him.

I'm bracing myself for all the "They died for our freedom" crap tomorrow. They didn't die for shit. They were murdered for imperialism.

22. 3 hi-jackers were alumni of American military schools
Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 08:24 PM by protect freedom impe
excerpt -

Over the next few days, more detailed information appeared in several other newspapers. A September 16 article in the New York Times reported: “Three of the men identified as the hijackers in the attacks on Tuesday have the same names as alumni of American military schools, the authorities said today. The men were identified as Mohamed Atta, Abdulaziz al-Omari and Saeed al-Ghamdi.

“The Defense Department said Mr. Atta had gone to the International Officers School at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama; Mr. al-Omari to the Aerospace Medical School at Brooks Air Force Base in Texas; and Mr. al-Ghamdi to the Defense Language Institute at the Presidio in Monterey, Calif.”

The Knight Ridder news service also reported that Saeed Alghamdi had been to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey and the Associated Press cited Air Force sources indicating that more than one of the hijackers may have received language training at the installation.

The media dropped the story after the Air Force officials issued a cursory statement aimed at preventing any further inquiry into links between the US military and the terrorists. While acknowledging that some of the suspected terrorists “had similar names to foreign alumni of U.S. military courses,” the statement said discrepancies in biographical information, such as birth dates and name spellings, “indicate we are probably not talking about the same people.” Without providing any substantiation, the statement suggested the hijackers may have stolen the identities of foreign military personnel who received training at the bases.

Following this less than convincing explanation, the Air Force refused to release the ages, countries of origin or any other information about the individuals whose names matched those of the alleged hijackers—making it virtually impossible to verify the claim that these were not the same individuals.

Attorney General John Ashcroft and the FBI also refused to make public any information. Asked by Florida Senator Bill Nelson whether any of the hijackers were trained at the Pensacola base, the Justice Department refused to give a definitive answer, and the FBI said it could not respond until it could “sort through something complicated and difficult,” according to the senator’s representative.

To receive such training, the hijackers would have had connections to Arab governments that enjoyed close relations with the US government. A former Navy pilot at the Pensacola air station told Newsweek that during his years on the base, “We always, always, always trained other countries’ pilots. When I was there two decades ago, it was Iranians. The Shah was in power. Whoever the country du jour is, that’s whose pilots we train.”

23. OK
1. The Bin Ladens and the Bushes. Embarrassing. All families have Black Sheep.
The Saudi/bin Laden/Bush connection is well documented. The Saudi royals have been playing dangerous games with the Islamic radicals for many years. The Saudi monarchy leaves the radicals alone, the radicals don't notice the royals are living lives of debauchery.

This story would be a major, devastating, blow to Bush if it were ever given the attention it deserves in the major media. But, it is NOT proof that Bush planned and executed the attacks (or had detailed knowledge of them).

2. Second Person involved--Saddam. There's no evidence whatever that Saddam was involved. Bush -implied- this, but even in the buildup to the Iraq war there was no actual claim of Iraqi involvement in 9/11 or of any close ties to al Qaeda.

If Bush was planning 9/11, why didn't he plant some evidence against Saddam from the outset? Instead of against his buddies, the Saudi's. And, if Bush has the power to plant evidence and plan terrorist attacks, why can't he get any WMDs planted in Iraq? Or just a little evidence of a Saddam/bin Laden link?

3. Pattern of turning against former allies. OK.

4. Halliburton pays Cheney. Cheney gets the same money no matter what. Embarrassing, sleazy, rotten. But -really- not nearly a big enough deal to motivate 9/11. (What ever happened to that oil pipeline?)

5. Bush listened for 20 minutes to a story about a pet goat after hearing of the first attack. If he -knew- about the attack, why didn't he have a scripted plan to look like a national hero instead of a Doofus? If he -knew- there was no danger to himself, why not jump up, make a pre-planned coherent speech and dash back to Washington and make a defiant speech from the WH lawn?

5'. Pentagon was undefended. This tale is so much blather. The military keeps likes to keep its activities secret. The people making this claim simply don't have sufficient information to say -anything- definite. That requires access to classified infomration and supoena powers. An alternate conspiracist theory claims proof that the plane that crashed over PA was shot down.

We don't know what planes were in the area. Or what decision processes were underway. Air-air missiles can hit a target miles away; there may be ground-air missiles.

The plane carried the wife of an administration insider; perhaps there was unusual reluctance to shoot it down. Or, maybe somebody screwed up.

AND, what would be the point of knocking a hole in the P'gon anyway? With Rummy inside? The real damage was already done--the towers. Shooting down an airliner carrying Barbara Olsen would have been hardly less horrible than knocking a hole in the P'gon.

A better question: Why wasn't the Pentagon (and other gov't buildings) -evacuated-?

6. 9/11 benefited Bush. Bush has shamelessly -used- 9/11. It is simply invalid logic to take that as proof he -planned- 9/11.

7. No investigation. (1) Actually, I don't think you can fairly blame this on Bush. The Dems controlled the Senate 9/11. It was -their- responsibility to act as an opposition party and demand accountability. (2) There -have- been investigations, and their conclusions are very damaging to Bush. The blanked-out portions of the Congressional investigation apparently refer to Saudi involvement and are probably devastating to Bush if they are ever leaked.

Bush has enjoyed a very peculiar immunity from criticism and scrutiny all along. Going back to the campaign. -Any- other presidential candidate with a history of alcoholism, drug abuse, insider business dealings, complete medocrity and stupid statements would have been washed out before he got started.

This is infuriating and bewildering, but NOT evidence that Bush planned and executed 9/11.

*Does anyone really believe that the really Republicans had some other elaborate plans for Bush's presidency? What agenda would they have been pursuing without 911? --I don't understand your point. The Really Republicans wanted a big tax cut. Outside the NeoCon lunatics, there aren't many Really Republicans who have much interest in keeping half our land forces in the Middle East.

25. This Thinking Person
needs some evidence that Bush planned 9/11, because it's just too nuts a theory. Even if he could do it and could get away with it for two years (two DAYS is unlikely), why would he? If for no other reason than, it would be too freakin' risky. A planner of this sort of thing would in no way be able to predict how the pieces of such a massive operation were gonna fall (so to speak.) It could just have easily given him and everybody involved a serious bite in the ass.

You conspiracy people give the dude credit for WAAAAY too much power.
