The only way to REALLY bring the BBV mess to a conclusion |
|
It's simple. Someone who is sure the machines can be hacked has to actually hack an election on purpose.
Hack the machine, screw up the results, and then IMMEDIATELY announce what has been done. Think about it. They can't be prosecuted for proving the machines are vulnerable. And the press would be highly sympathetic to the effort if there was a "paper trail" to prove this was simply an effort to save democracy in America.

2. Not if you innoculate yourself |
|
Let enough trusted people know beforehand what you are doing and you are planning to announce it the SECOND the results are released.
Seems to me that there is no possibility of conviction if you do it right.

4. Oh, jail time would be a certainty. |
|
But I would go to jail if I thought it would save our democracy.

7. I'd Save it for a Last Resort Measure |
|
In my experience, people who purposely exploit something to drive home the point of how broken it is usually end up doing more harm than good. There's always someone around to think "wow, what a great idea," if TPTB refuse to change what needs to be fixed.

5. lol, I thought you'd say "let a Dem win" |
|
then we KNOW the repubes would be screaming BBV all over the news and op/eds..
good plan you have, though, and I won't be surprised if people are already thinking that
but personally, I would call it "counter-hacking"

you can make a very CONVINVING ARGUMENT - and they have - on what they got and know now.
MS - is insecure and the WORLD knows it (just ask japn/china/s. korea NO VERIFIABLE AUDIT TRAIL Compromised Approval Proccess Secret Code Strange Anomallies in past elections - 18181, exit polls
that should be enough for a REASONABLE person to realize we need reform imediatly.
but it certainly be a memorable moment that would be sure to get widespread media attention...
but by THEN it may be TOO LATE
psst... pass the word
peace

They can't be prosecuted for proving the machines are vulnerable
A good friend of mine went to jail for hacking into something to prove it could be done, then immediately admitting it.
