I can confirm that US Rep. Rangel was on the Draft Clark conference call
I was nervous about revealing his involvement in tonight's conference call but it appears his support of Clark is already public knowledge.

-snip-
U.S. Congressman Charles Rangel of New York, a top politician in that state, has made a commitment to help Clark in New York, Dillard said.

"Today, I am proud and honored to welcome General Clark into the Democratic Party. General Clark is and will be a wonderful asset to our country. He will provide leadership on all public policy matters including, defense, foreign affairs, fiscal responsibility, health care and rural America. We certainly welcome him," Congressman Berry (D-Ark.-1) said.

8. Rangel provided a lot of advice. . .
. . .it was kind of strange because he was talking to us as if we were the ones advising the General, telling us the best way to make the announcement and other advice. It was pretty fascinating, especially when Congressman Berry (AR) joined in.

20. They will be paying attention
If Clark enters the race, it will be big news. There certainly is a decent chance of it, since he has been encouraging the draft movement. For some reason, Gore hasn't been encouraging his draft movement. I wonder why.

22. Something you should know
Rangel said that their is a lot of energy out there for Clark and I lot of established Democrats, who have political organizations in place, have not chosen a candidate yet. He might not be as behind as you think.

12. They'll have to fold immediately
and concede the elections without even having to run in 2004. Every Dems and independents and pissed-off Repukes will be voting for this ticket. There's no doubt in my mind that this is a potentinally undefeatable ticket, barring any skeletons in the closet, which I know both do NOT have.

And Nicholas_J -- even you have to *ADMIT* that this is a great ticket -- remember ABB.

13. The usual: slander, libel, words you never heard in the Bible
They'll make up a sex scandal, a shady real estate deal, or find somebody to say he cheated on the SAT. Maybe this time they won't get away with it.

11. I don't think people understand how much work has gone into the draft
Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 11:36 PM by wndycty
We have a weekly conference call with 80 coordinators with each state represented. We have state coordinators (I share the responsibility with someone else in Illinois). General Clark met the DraftWesleyClark.com people on Sunday night and the DraftClark2004.com people last night. We are very well coordinated and ready to move on his campaign in an heart beat. I am currently working on getting county coordinators in every county in the state. Teams from Illinois and Minnesota are headed to Iowa to join the crew there for Tom Harkin's Steak Fry on Saturday. Others are mobilizing to go to Knoxville for the General's speech there. Its am impressive group we have assembled. . .and we don't even have a candidate yet!

16. Clark has been running for a while
Some people here don't seem to realize that Clark gets more posts at DU (and almost as many articles in the press these days) as many of the announced candidates, if not more.

He is not starting his campaign next week, he's just announcing that it is official.

The campaign has been in progress for a while now.

Clark has a strategy. Embrace strategy, we will need one to beat Bush.

21. Thanks for keeping us 'in the loop'.
I'm a big fan of Congressman Rangel. I'm sure his advice was sound.

I've been hoping for sometime now that Clark & Dean would get together. I really think they'd be the strongest ticket and, in office, would provide the country with the wide range of expertise and experience that's going to be needed in order to begin to repair the damages done by *&Co. here and around the world. It's going to be an enormous undertaking. I think Dean and Clark understand that.
