"Clark-ies?" "Green-ies?" "Dean-ies?"
Are these disparaging terms that are intended to evoke a response from (or belittle) Clark supporters, Green party members, and Dean Supporters?

Or, are they the preferred shortcut/slang for referring to these groups in a verbally economic and in the most efficient way possible?

1. I vote for verbally economic and in the most efficient way
possible. I don't see them as disparaging.

Just can't take the pushmepullyou going on right now. So I avoid those threads. (odd thing to say on a political board, hey?)

I think it's probably usually meant to be disparaging, but I
know the terms "Dean-ie" or "Deaniebopper", etc. don't hurt
me in the slightest, and if I think it's being used negatively,
it just cheapens the argument of the user.

I KNOW I'm backing a good, decent man with an excellent
chance to win and I hope others feel the same about their
candidates.

4. Honestly, I've Been Waiting For Dean People To Name Themselves
So I generally avoid saying anything beyond "Dean people" or "Dean supporters." I usually try to make sure I don't pile all supporters into one group, especially when I am commenting on something negative some of them are doing.

6. Bush Supporters Don't Refer To Themselves As "Bushies" Or "Bushistas"...
... but do "Naderites" refer to themselves that way? Did they adopt the negative and make it a self-identifying positive?

"Goreys" doesn't work. Neither does "Nader-ies".
"Kerry-ees"? No... not quite right either.

5. Disparaging.
The terms are used to belittle, IMO.

8. This is sticks and stones stuff,
It doesn't belay profanity, it isn't racist, sexist, ageist, etc.

Taking back control of a term like Deanie strips it of its power as in "Proud to be a Deanie."

10. Speaking for myself, i certainly use Greenies disparagingly
Since, in a manner indishuishable from George Bush, they want us to lose 2004, as well as being generally wacky, hypocritical, and obnoxious they richly deserve disparaging. I would never use Clarkies or Deanies or Kerry-ies.

11. I'm a Deanie, never used 'Clarkie' nor 'Kerry-ie' but would consider
Clarkite, or Kerryite in an affectionate manner. :loveya:

I also use 'Greenie' in a disparging manner as in .... 'booooogar'.:P
