Can Ed Koch be considered sane?
Wolf Blitzer was interviewing Ed Koch, and Hizhonor said some things that are bordering on the unbelivable. Koch says any critism of Bush and company is wrong. He says he going to vote for Bush's reelection, and repeats the RNC(and DLC) message that Howard Dean is represents the 1/3 of the Democratic Party that is far left. He say he loves Joe Lieberman, and told him so, when Lieberman visited him. I will bet money that Koch will be making a round of the talking head shows right soon here. Some good ole fashioned Dem bashing. One question that comes to mind about folk like Koch, Lieberman, the NewRepublic Magazine. They are carrying water for Israel. I don't know how really loves the Iraq except for some people at Bechtel and Haliburton, and the Likud.

1. People have their agendas
and Koch has a big one. Some people let unquestionned defense of Israel drive everything (like some people let prolife rule every decision). Bush has sucked up to everyone who believes in revenge and violence. That's a lot of supporters. We've got our work cut out for us.

15. How can people be so stupid?
It is pro Israeli to support a sensible Middle East policy blind arrogance is not going to cause the Palestinians to submit.

But that’s obvious.

he looked so weird. You could tell that even Blitzer was shocked by what he was saying because of the long pauses after Koch would speak.

5. Didn't koch use to be a dem?
he writes a column in the "New Yorker Mag" with al demato and he says the same kind of shyte. I don't even read what he has to say anymore. Now they've got Mark Green joining their column so at least they have some sanity.

But to say he's going to vote for bush ..I think he probably could be considered certifiable.

7. Sure he's sane, but deluded
He's still living in the Dreamworld of a Strong, Healthy Republic.

Maybe that would be the thing to do if we lived in such a place...probably not, though, because unquestioning obedience is...well...let's just say Ed should know better.

Even still, given that the Old American Republic is under it's greatest attack since the Civil War, perhaps ever considering that the Civil War was a frontal-rebellion while the Bushevik Cabal is involved in a much more dangerous type of "subverting the government using the government" which alos mimics Nazi Strategy.

No, I'd lump Ed and Joe and the rest together among the same sorts of deluded fools who have handed away their Liberty in ever age and under every sort of cabal, collusion, and propaganda (Rome 50 BC, Russia 1922, Germany 1933, S. Africa 1947, the list goes on and on).

10. It's all about New York City.
All politics is local all the time. If Lieberman wins, it will be good news for New York City, but I don't expect anything will change for the rest of us.

As one activist explained to me, there are three parties: The Democratic Party, the Republican party and the Chamber of Commerce -- with lots of commingling between the three.

The good news is that Lieberman and Koch both sound shrill so that's a good sign that they are so desparate that they have nothing to lose, and Bloomberg is sending Cheney away, which means that he knows that there is trouble ahead for the status quo. Might as well cut down on photo opportunities now that will prove troublesome in the next election.

They maintain the illusion of being a liberal mag while infiltrating right wing agit-prop. Great idea, what?

20. Let's not forget -- this is the same Ed Koch of "Pataki Democrats" fame...
And he was also endorsed by BOTH major political parties during his stint as NYC mayor.

He's a complete jackass, IMHO. I don't think he's certifiable, as much as I think he's just a full-out Likudnik and patron of power.

As for him representing ANYBODY who considers themselves a true "Democrat" -- well, in that matter I'd say he IS certifiable....

23. Ed Koch was always the Republicans favorite Democrat
Going back to the Reagan years.

I believe he has a talk radio show, or if he dosn't he had one and sure wants it back. This should explain everything you need to know about Ed Koch.

He singlehandly derailed Al Gore's 1988 Presidential Bid in the Democratic primaries by making one of the stupidiest statements ever issued by a politician. So dumb in fact it cost him the democratic primary for mayor the following year.

27. I just saw him on Scarborough Country
Edited on Fri Sep-12-03 01:00 AM by pruner
he said that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice & Powell were "the best, strongest team we've ever had to defend the country. Those people who attack them purposely – which some are doing for partisan political reasons – are injuring the country in my judgement. They have a right to do it, but they shouldn't."
